The Marco Polo restaurant in Newcastle has left a lasting impression on me during my two visits. Situated in a bustling area, the restaurant boasts an inviting ambiance that blends modernity with a touch of elegance. The interior décor is tastefully done, with soft lighting that sets a cozy mood for a delightful dining experience.
One of the highlights of Marco Polo is its diverse and enticing menu. Offering a fusion of traditional and contemporary dishes, the restaurant caters to a wide range of palates. On my first visit, I was captivated by their seafood options, particularly the expertly prepared sushi rolls that showcased the freshness of the ingredients. The flavors were well-balanced and the presentation was visually appealing.
During my second visit, I ventured into their meat offerings and was equally impressed. The succulent steaks were cooked to perfection, accompanied by an array of delectable sides that complemented the main course wonderfully.
The service at Marco Polo deserves commendation. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, providing recommendations based on preferences. They also contributed to the warm and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant, ensuring that both visits were truly enjoyable.
However, on both occasions, the noise level was a bit higher than anticipated, which might not suit those seeking a more intimate setting. Additionally, the dessert options, while tasty, could have been a bit more innovative to match the creativity seen in the main dishes.
In conclusion, the Marco Polo restaurant in Newcastle is a culinary gem that offers a delightful blend of flavors, an inviting ambiance, and attentive service. While there are minor areas that could be improved, the overall experience is undoubtedly memorable. I look forward to returning to explore more of their offerings in the future.
Marco Polo is a traditional Italian restaurant located in the heart of Newcastle city centre. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with exposed brick walls and a rustic charm. The menu features a wide variety of Italian dishes, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We had the pleasure of dining at Marco Polo twice during our recent weekend visit to Newcastle. Highly recommended.
Had a delicious dinner here with colleagues.
We had a lovely midweek meal here the other week.
We did not book a table and had no problem walking in.
All of the food we ordered was lovely. The waiters were very helpful recommending dishes and the wine in the restaurant was also lovely.
The pizza looked really good. I got pasta, which was delicious.
The portion size of the starters were very generous and we felt that everything was good value.
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and it was good to have a conversation. Would also be good for a couple or friends meeting for dinner.
A lovely atmosphere, cute interior, and good food - the pork belly starter was nicely balanced with a sweet minty base and the veggie lasagna main was very satisfying but also light at the same time. Cocktails were absolutely great, there’s an everyday deal of 2for1 and it’s so worth it. Plus staff were so friendly and accommodating, really tying the whole experience together - will definitely be back for another visit.
Food is great. Ambience is excellent. Great place if you have a big group as it is spacious
Date night with my wife, pleasant staff, food was nice enough if not a bit small portion wise, but I'd definitely recommend!
Really recommend this place! The pastas were both delicious and the tomato garlic bread we got to share was really good! Servers were all very friendly, the decor was nice downstairs. Overall a good experience and definitely not as expensive as I thought it would have been!
Mistakes Happen! Poor waiter accidentally dropped a tray of drinks all over our table and my son. You know what these things happen and they truly owned it. Couldn’t have apologised enough, sorted out a very fair discount etc and made my son feel much better about the whole thing.
Food was brilliant, heard great things about this place will definitely be going back.
We went Saturday evening on 15th of April, without reservation. Great service from all personnel, everyone was very polite and friendly. Special thanks to Marcia.
Food was great
With Restaurant week going, we couldn’t miss out trying these classy restaurants!
