We made an impromptu visit after not eating from fat hippo for a long time. The service was great, it was fairly busy for dine in and deliveries when we arrived but the staff dealt with everything really well. Food was good and the portions were decent value for what we paid.
Great burger joint with a vast selection of burgers to choose from. Surprisingly not overly busy for a Saturday early evening / late afternoon but was filling up when we left.
Highly recommend the PB+JJ. Who knew peanut butter on a burger worked so well?!
Absolute must visit if you like a decent burger at a fair price. Staff were excellent and attentive throughout. Good choice of options. Fast service and lovely food. We spent around £20 per person including an alcoholic beverage. Recommend.

Really nice food and the staff are so nice. Just one part of my chicken burger was a funny colour but the rest was really delicious and filling.
Made my debut at the Fat hippo in Jesmond on Wednesday, 5th April 2023. At 1430. I can't believe I haven't been before, and it will definitely won't be the last time. The two hosts greeting at the start was excellent. I think our main host was BEE, and she was 1st class without being over attentive.
Collected food for takeaway. The food was really nice, particularly liked the cheese balls starter, but the reason for 4 stars not 5 is I ordered the dirty hand cut chips and my partner ordered superfries me, but you can see from the pictures we both received exactly the same skin on fries with diff
Fantastic burgers, huge servings and excellent service! We had the mac & cheese balls (my personal favourite) and dirty skins as entrees - they were big enough to be a meal. The PB&J burger was a pleasant surprise, and the Hangover III (fried chicken and pickle) was great too. If you go between 5-7p

Really nice, the atmosphere feels really nice and bubbly. Food was really delicious, (Especially the tater tots, those are recommended). Staff are really nice and polite, definitely a 5 star review!!🤩🤩 (written by my 10 year old son Alfie!!)
Just popped in for something to eat, very quiet, but the food was very nice, the onion ring was a bit too 'greasy' when I tasted it, the dirty sweet potato fries were lovely, eat them all day!

Fat Hippo-sized Burgers.
The plant-based patties would be perfect for hippopotamuses. Although, no herbivore can expect a healthy meal here unless they only eat with their eyes.
This is a great 'guilty pleasure' place for vegans - and a good compromise if vegans want to share a meal with non-vegan
The only reason this gets 4 stars rather than 5 is because it isn't very accessible. Nowt they can do about it as v small premises. If you have additional needs, they do deliveroo though so get on it. Great food, great service, lovely vibe.
We visit fat hippo jesmond around once a month and it is our FAVE. The service is always amazing, the staff are so friendly and the food is phenomenal. Never get a burger like it! Just the best.
