We have been for both afternoon tea and the burger night. Both have been lovely, service is excellent, food very tasty. They have prosecco for £20 all day, every day which is a great price for the centre of Newcastle. We also had a whisky/coke and gin/tonic they worked our about £6 each which isn't that bad really. Would really recommend going, we always use the groupon/living social vouchers for the food which is great value for money.

Nice bright venue.
Friendly happy staff.
Good sized portions and above average cocktail prices, but the price charged reflected the experience.
Will go back and try a steak next time.

Great food, great location, friendly staff. Only thing that lets this place down is the service time, even when they're not especially busy.

We had a groupon voucher for a 3 course meal and OMG it did not disappoint.....................absolutely superb food and the staff were first class. Had a lovely lunch with a chilled bottle of champers.....
Pure Perfection, thank you all xx

Lovely helpful staff, We ordered a carrot and coriander soup and when it came it tasted extremely savoury/salty we questioned whether that was the norm and the staff was happy to change the dish to a ham hock terrine which was much better everything else that followed was lovely.

This is a place you need to visit with someone special, fine dinning at it's best with great prices. Warm welcome from the staff followed by great food.

Really enjoyed the food although it was very 'Masterchef'. The staff were lovely but the service was a bit on the slow side, maybe because we were using a voucher and therefore not 'paying' customers :)

Amazing place. I went for afternoon tea to celebrate graduating from university, the staff went out of their way to make my meal special, with amazing chocolate writing for free and incredibly fast service. Would recommend this place whole heartedly

Very expensive but good steak and there is a set menu 3 courses £30.
I opted for a la carte and the goat's cheese and beetroot starter with candied walnuts which was lovely. V mild goat's cheese; generous helping. For main course it had to be the fillet steak which at £31 isn't cheap. It only comes with chips and a few roasted tomatoes so if you want side dishes expect to pay even more. I had a large glass of Malbec (ordinary frankly) and my bill without sides but including service was £54. So not for those on a budget.

Booked for lunch yesterday to celebrate my 50th . Have never been before so don’t know what I expected but thought it was fine dinning restaurant. When my partner and I arrived for our 2pm table we were asked to wait . The restaurant was very busy , reception lady told us could not take our coats as apparently no room for them ? think there had been a groupon for afternoon tea and the place was full of lady’s eating scones. I wasn’t expecting to be one of the youngest in the room at 50 !! We had the a la carte menu and 2 bottles of wine spending £130 . I had the crab to start , nice . My partner had the tempura prawn and calamari which had greasy batter and no batter on prawns at all ? Then fillet steak I asked for medium which it was not , blood coming out , French beans with toasted almonds , cold beans with untoasted flaked almonds , chips were very good and the only good thing on plate staff where great but food and atmosphere let them down

My wife and I stayed at the Indigo and booked a table for the evening of our 30th anniversary. When the fabulous waitress asked us if there was any special occasion, we explained that it was to celebrate our anniversary. The staff presented us with a fabulously decorated plate wishing us a happy anniversary. Nice touch, fabulous staff and great food!
Thanks for making our night extra special.

Had afternoon tea yesterday and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The afternoon tea was excellent but i was a bit disappointed with the savoury side of the tea. Between us we only had 3 finger sandwiches each so it was not even a whole sandwich and my preference is definately savoury. Plenty of selection with the sweet so in my opinion that let it down. Overall good experience though.

Fantastic from start to finish! Very relaxed atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Our food was cooked to perfection, from the fresh dressed crab to the rib eye steak. Would certainly recommend a visit!

Just been in for afternoon tea as we had a voucher for Christmas. Hadn't planned on taking our two children but in the end had to. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming. With one of the bar staff making the effort to print off colouring pages in their favourite characters after engaging them on conversation. All the staff were attentive and great with the children making it a very relaxed experience. We really enjoyed the afternoon tea and the kids enjoyed their meals too, although as they had already helped themselves to part of ours too they didn't eat that much of theirs.

An amazing day celebrating my mam's 90th, beautiful afternoon tea, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Would definitely recommend a visit.

This is our 4th time here and as usual everything was excellent. Scallops were cooked to perfection, burger, triple cooked chips, Onion rings and sourdough bread was delicious. My Chocolate mousse was to die for and partner's sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce was AMAZING! The Strawberry daquiri's (x3)! were lovely too. We always have brilliant sevice here and our waiter was Daniel who was a lovely, friendly, down to earth young man who was very attentive even though it was very busy. Cannot wait to come back! 10/10 x

Went for lunch yesterday afternoon. The staff were great, very polite & helpful, the girl on reception was especially welcoming and friendly. The food was good quality & tasty but don’t go if you have a big appetite as the portions are very small. What spoilt the whole experience was a group of diners/chavs making a lot of noise chanting and encouraging each other to down glasses of wine in one. Really let the restaurant down.

The staff in this establishment put this place where it should be. From walking into this place your immediately took care of. It’s stunning & plush, and 100 % deserves a 5 star review. THANKYOU guys.

Had the most lovely afternoon tea for my anniversary here! Staff were lovely and even wrote happy anniversary on a plate with chocolates for us. Will definitely be back. Everything tasted great!

Food was brilliant and the staff were fab. Couldn’t have asked for better service, especially when we got the time of our booking wrong and they still managed to find us a table. And they put together a chocolate pudding for me even though it wasn’t in the menu.

Smart, friendly and subtle. Visited Marco Pierre Whites on Tuesday last week (14th Oct 14) and was slightly daunted by the surroundings and the name on the door. I booked in advance with a vegetarian request and this was noted before my arrival and taken into account. Staff made my party feel comfortable and well catered for without being intrusive or remote. Food excellent, not badly priced either (around £30 each for 3 courses). Plenty of selection, food cooked to perfection and all in good time too. Desserts a little too sweet for my liking but great all the same. I would highly recommend and I will return with just my wife at some point in the future.

Food was alright. Service was horrible. Very long wait times and they can't even coordinate a coffee with a dessert. It shows up 20 minutes later with the bill.

Mandatory 10 percent charge for service. Problem is the service is terrible.

Too many good places nearby to waste time and money here for disappointment.

When I asked Bruno, the French greeter and seater, what sort of food we could expect from a place that describes itself as a steakhouse, he stiffened, raised his head and said proudly: It is not food, it is Art. Just as well, I thought, as there’s no art on the walls of this modern, functional space. Unless you count three gigantic photographs of The Artist himself: Marco Pierre White. Scowling and sprawling like an old roué, sporting his slightly scary, slightly camp bandana, the Godfather of modern cookery gruffly surveys the Newcastle outpost of his empire: circular lampshades, green and brown chairs, black and white walls in keeping with the rest of the Hotel Indigo in which it’s housed. The restaurant also acts as the hotel breakfast room, so it’s understandable that it’s short on character, but it’s bright and welcoming, and Mrs Diner and I, seated by the window, had a view of

Speaking to the restaurant manager, we’re assured the afternoon tea is of the “traditional" sort - no Heston stuff, just finger sandwiches, cakes, and scones, and apparently it’s proving very popular. A safe choice maybe, but achieving perfection through simplicity is hard . It’s priced sans champagne at £15.95 each, so about average for high-end of Newcastle. Y ou’re seated away from the main restaurant in the Grainger Lounge, which other hotels might call “the lobby" - could see this being annoying on busy days. Comfy though, and you get the positive/negative of being doused in sunshine from the full length windows/seeing (drunk?) people go down a not particularly ni
