Lovely cosy cafe in close proximity to Heaton Park. I went for the breakfast sliders which is a great option if you're not too hungry and you want a bit of sweet and savoury. It was all delicious 👌 The pancakes were the start though, I'd get a stack of them next time.

Love this place, go very regularly. Lovely little menu that changes, not just your standard fry ups and egg options. Not open Mondays. My favourite breakfast place in Newcastle, don't have to book and never not been able to eat. Far superior to anywhere else in Heaton. Lunch menu is also very good

Nice place, cosy and friendly. Good food too!

Excellent nutricious comfort food. The walls show paintings created by the owner who is a fascinating guy with numerous tales of people he knows from the music business. Very relaxed friendly cafe with comfy seats.

Lovely little café with its own atmosphere, very nice for a breakfast or a brunch. Very good English breakfast, generous portion, good bread and tasty coffee, and the cakes are wonderful! Just tried the pear and ginger cake: it's to die for!

Really nice place. Similar to a few of the other cafe/restaurants on Heaton Road they've got an artsy rustic vibe going on. Food looks and tastes great, but very breakfasty, and not as many lunch options as I would have liked. Will definitely go again though.

Good feed and decent price. Full breakfast was £8.50

Right, now this is an interesting place.
High ceilinged interior, mix of chairs and comfy settees. Someone has an interesting, eclectic taste in music.
Coffee is good but the food I had was really, really tasty. Many superlatives here, but again someone here can cook.

Cosy place, very friendly. Food was delicious and coffee was great. My 2 year old also enjoyed herself playing with toys and colouring books.

Good place to sit and chat. I brought in my computer and got some work done. Good coffee. Ordered the falafel wrap and it was delicious. Would recommend.

I love this little cafe, it's my happy place! The nicest cakes, outside of my own shop of course 😉 I've tried and the breakfasts are fantastic!

Great Bacon Butty. Good atmosphere.

A nice relaxed cafe for a good breakfast or a light lunch. Dogs are welcome so it's a good place to take them after walking in Heaton Park.
Samantha Hood
Quirky little place, lovely food and reasonably priced. Great coffee and the pancakes with banana and sugared bacon are very good.

Pretty much the best cafe I know -- way, way ahead of the competition. And the most baby-friendly place imaginable, yet still being a place for grown ups. Unique. Wonderful.

Really great full english breakfast (veggie and meat options are both tasty) plus lots of other heathy options including smoothies.

Wonderful place, great atmosphere, lush cake, tea, coffee, smoothy and health food choices. Amazing owners :).

Great food (especially the cakes), great staff, great atmosphere! What with Alan's ever changing art gallery and Anthony's ever changing menu it never disappoints. I only wish I had more time to enjoy the delights! Keep up the good work!

Fabulous cafe. The mackerel and rhubarb relish panini was to die for! Can't wait to go back.

Utterly disappointed and shocked at the mannerism of the staff from our visit to the Wild Trapeze today.
As we walked in, we were unsure whether to sit down, or wait, or whether we would be welcomed by a member of staff. We ended up sitting down on an empty table which was filled with dirty plates, waiting 10 minutes to then be shyly greeted and have the table cleared of mess. After sitting down for an additional 10 minutes we realised we had to order food from the bar area.
Although the above has been written in a negative light, none caused any personal issues. We understand the atmosphere is laid back and it is up to us to request food, like many other cafe's.
We ordered food; to be precise 3 of us ordered pancakes, one ordered a poached egg and for drinks, 1 ordered a hot chocolate and another ordering a milkshake type drink. The (older) man who served us - sorry, we do not know names, was very quiet, rude and looked miserable like he really didn't want to serve us. But at this stage, we didn't take it personal.
We sat back down and waited for our 'breakfast' to arrive.
40 minutes later, one hot chocolate arrived, followed by a shake a further 10 minutes later. Not too sure how the drinks took so long, but we were just happy they arrived.
It got to 1 hour and 10 minutes into our visit, and it didn't look like any food was to be served anytime soon. One of us went to the (older) man at the till and asked if he knew how long the food would be; we didn't think a small breakfast i.e. pancakes and a poached egg would take this length of time. We received no form of apology for the delay, which is really the only thing we expected. Instead we got 'I don't know, it should be ready soon, we are very busy'.
The gentleman then came over to our table once we were all sat down again, and explained everything is made fresh. We made him away that we completely understand - fresh good food takes time to be served, however we then said 'we are only asking as we only ordered...[as mentioned above]. To our complete surprise, the gent replied and said 'Do you want to make them yourselves ?!'
We were appalled that it had even came to this - it should not take this long for this amount of food to be made; we had a right to query them.
Not long after, the lady who worked there came over to our table and similarly stood her ground explaining how the food is made fresh. We explained we are not annoyed at this anymore, we are annoyed at the way we were spoken to. We still did not receive any form of apology.
The younger man then came out from the kitchen, I am assuming he was the chef, once again standing his ground saying he was stressed and the food takes to time. As mentioned above we understood this- we just cannot believe the staff reacted to their customers in this way.
The food then came a couple of minutes later. There is not too much to say about the food to be honest, the pancakes and berry's were okay and the poached egg was cold. If it was so freshly made, we do not know how the egg was not warm.
Really disappointed at the service from our visit today. We understand fresh food takes time to be cooked but for the sake of a quick breakfast visit, which turned out to be a lunch date, the food should not have taken this long, and the staff should not speak to customers the way they did. We will definitely not be returning to this cafe again, and will be advising friends and colleagues of our awful experience.

Creative surroundings and delicious food. It's little gems like this that make the side of Newcastle I love.
