Eight Buns

Took the in laws here for a Sunday lunch. There are so many dumpling places around Newcastle now. I find many of these places a bit ordinary. However I was pleasantly surprised with Eight Buns. The dumplings had really good flavour and the menu had some really nice options. I love a good fried rice as well and I thought the Prawn fried rice was really good. I'll definitely come back to Eight buns.

Had lunch here with a friend and while the food was nice, the waiter appeared to be ill, with coughing, sneezing and other visible symptoms. When asked he blamed it on an allergy to cats. Even if true it didn’t seem very hygienic or confidence inspiring for customers for him to be there with those symptoms without at least a mask on.

After returning to Newcastle after 17 years in Shanghai this is what we were looking for. We've eaten here a few times now but the last time I took friends who'd also lived in Shanghai, they were starving & I wanted to spoil them, so we totally indulged, spending $45 each, but you don't need to spend that much. Tonight my two kids & I will inhale here for my son's birthday. It could cost a bomb, but it's the best & so worth it as they grew up on this type of food. This is the closest we've come to real Chinese food. Well done 👍✅ you are now our favourite restaurant in Newcastle. 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
