What a fab place!!
Myself, with my husband and our young daughter visited here this afternoon. Our first time too, as we only moved to Caerleon in January this year. (So was nice to find and visit one of our local pubs.)
Such a lovely warm welcome by Charly and her staff and of course Harry (one of Charly & Jo's furbabies ).
We had food, from there lovely menu with a good choice of food to choose from. Including different meal choices, and not the standard meals that can be offered in a lot of pub restaurants. So was nice to see different meal choices for a change.
The food was homemade fresh cooking. Including homemade ice cream which is fab. We all enjoyed our food, nothing at all to complain about.
Good selection of beers, ales and ciders too
Overall, I will definitely be returning here and will be telling friends & family when they visit us. This is a place to visit and well recommended!!
My added love for this place, are the dogs!! Very dog friendly and even have a menu for your furry friend and doggy cakes at the bar to purchase as treats. Adorable!!
Everything ticks my boxes here

I can honestly say that I find this place not only welcoming but homely and certainly an encouraging change to Caerleon. It’s like a step back in time where you don’t feel embarrassed to go alone as female to a public house. The Staff are second to non and the owners really make you feel welcome no matter what the situation. The food is the best I have had in a very long time and the priory needs to step up its game as this place certainly gives them a run for their money. Sunday lunch is fantastic and evening meals to die for. Jo is a truly awesome chef along with her team.
The Bell Inn in Caerleon is an absolutely fabulous place a wonderful pub I have from my childhood memories 50 years ago.
My whole family, including my grandad used to hang out here and have a couple of beers most days a week .
Obviously the pub has changed quite a lot over the last years. It is an early 17th century coaching in and actually very close to the Roman burial ground here in Caerleon.
It’s a wonderful atmosphere in the pub beautiful gardens outside lovely sitting inside all nestled in a little village just outside of the main town of Caerleon.
Delightful traditional pub. Service very good. Food tasty, well presented, and inexpensive. Fish and Chips would come recommended. Would definitely return.
It was my first visit here. It was a Saturday afternoon over the coronation. The waitress was very welcoming and the pub is really charming. The food was out of this world!! Gorgeous!! I don’t think I would go anywhere else from now on.. I have told everyone how amazing our meal was. The atmosphere was really good too !! The waitress was on her own but did an amazing job and the chef is amazing!! 5*****
First time eating here and will defo return very soon!
A small evening dinner menu but everything sounded (and looked) delish!
We opted for the sautéed mushrooms and house bread with marmite butter, both super tasty. And for main we had the burger which was enjoyed and the yeast baked cauliflower with butter bean mash which was different and full of flavour - lots of places often don’t make much effort with the veggie option so this was a real treat!
The desserts sounded lovely but just didn’t have any room for them so next time!
Also was a lovely atmosphere and the best most attentive and friendly services.
Just had an absolutely beautifully cooked lamb and an amazing side of chunky fries, my other half had the Cajun chicken which was equally tasty. It was topped off with a lovely desert of a chocolate brownie etc . All in all we thoroughly recommend dining here.
Sunday lunch, the beef brisket was the best I've ever had, melt in the mouth and bigger than a steak, highly recommended.
Not our first visit, but first time we'd had lunch here - it was delicious and reasonably priced. Nice to see something a bit different on the menu (I had a delicious chicken "naanwich"). As ever, a very warm welcome for our pooch. Lovely staff.
Fist time at the Bell for many years years and it didn’t disappoint. Really good food and the staff were so lovely. Will definitely return and highly recommend.
Lovely old pub, serving delicious (if a bit pricey) food and beer. I had the monkfish and prawn curry, which was very flavoursome and left me wanting more. My wife had the fish and chips, also perfectly cooked.
The only real negative point is that because the building is old and of stone construction, it's cold. There didn't seem to be any heating at all. I had to put my coat on whilst eating and my wife needed her scarf.
Can’t recommend this pub enough. Food was fabulous, hubby had a steak burger from lunch menu and thought it tasted great and was cooked to his liking. I had linguine from the veggie menu which tasted great. We took our dog #ZacTheDoberman with us as a friend had said it was dog friendly. Dog friendly doesn’t do it justice - there was a dog menu which would suit large or small dogs. Zac had the Rawhide shoe and Pupcake, it was so nice that he had his own food so wasn’t pestering us for our food. The owners and staff were friendly and so helpful. Very customer focused especially if you are of the canine variety. Lots of walks and interesting things to do in the area too. Can’t wait to return.
