Spent a wonderful couple of hours there. Had a lovely meal, and a few drinks. The landlord and his partner were very good host's. Pleasant indeed. Can't wait to do it again x

Absolutely adore historically-rich buildings like Ye Olde Murenger House. This particular building has a very interesting background indeed. Aside from the mezmerizimg architecture and rich history, the food and drinks menu has some decent options and is reasonably priced. I love the fact that this pub eschews socially-prevailing norms including TV screens, wifi and mobile phones. It's so peaceful - and epically old-school!

Proper old pub serving great Sam Smiths beer. Clearly has a good cellar because I've never had a pint that wasn't at the absolute perfect temperature. Atmosphere and staff are really friendly. Never seen any nonsense going on. Food is very, very good and great value for money. It's the only place in the centre of Newport worth visiting. Everything else is pure rubbish by comparison.

Excellent traditional pub. The beers are very good, friendly atmosphere. Nice place for a drink and a chat. A real treat, but maybe not so great if you're not a Sam Smiths fan like I am (it's Sam Smiths only, like an old-style tied house). The Old Brewery Bitter is highly recommended.

Very good ale at reasonable prices. Food available all day. Friendly and knowledgeable manager as often seems to be the case in Sam Smith's pubs. On our way in, a man on the street stopped me to say it is the best pub in Newport.

Traditional cosy pub with lovely wood panelled interior. Friendly staff & good selection of real ales. Good menu selection at reasonable prices. Would definitely visit again when I am in the area.
