Service was a little slow, but I think they were busy. I was very surprised by the size of the fish! I did manage to eat almost all of it but had to leave some of the peas as it was very filling. The fish was lovely and moist with a good crispy batter, the chips were also nice and crispy without being overcooked.
Staff are always very friendly and helpful, the best selection of fish and seafood, when we try some of the reduced items when they’re reduced to clear they are brilliant, brilliant discount and fresh enough. Good parking, plenty of staff and self service tills also to choose from. Only negative I can think of is that it would benefit from a few ‘world food’ items; seasonings etc.
Nice supermarket near the center of Newport. Good selection of groceries and general household goods. Parking is free, but be aware of the time limit as it is enforced by cameras and the fines are steep. I personally do not like this kind of parking monetization, it feels a little too much like a way to trick people out of money.
I went to two Morrisons on the island as I was after a bottle of mermaid gin. Unfortunately the one in Newport didn't stock it. But gladly the one in Lake did. So 5* to the lake store. But only 4* to the store in Newport
I sometimes go there to get a freebie. My last visit I got a chicken worth £6.50 free with my Vodafone app. I prefer the Morrisons in lake over this Newport branch, but it’s still a good supermarket with plenty of disabled parking and wheelchair ♿️ access.
Central, so easy to find
But don't expect everything you might find back home if holidaying nearby.
Having said that, friendly staff and almost everything you might need.
There if you need it
(After sun, bread, drink, sudocream, wet wipes)
Garage next door, with good price on petrol
The fresh bakery was lovely but in other places shelves were empty. I wouldn't shop there again.
As supermarkets go, morrisons is a good one. Excellent produce, as well as household goods, books, dvds, and in store bakery. There's even a lovely cafe in store. The full breakfast is excellent. 👌
Nice superstore. Really convenient for visitors. The price is fair compared to the mainland. In the carpark, exit must be clear marked.
Good well run store with good helpful staff.
Great store, lovely staff EXCEPT the tall security guard who keeps picking on Mt Son!
It's a supermarket, deals to be had sometimes. But we all need shopping. Diesel is not cheap, they are still holding the motorist to ransom
As usual, whichever Morrisons you visit, whilst slightly dearer I some items, there are bargains available, that's if you really want to either try some new food item to add to your long list of things to try to see if an old person can taste something that wasn't available for quite a number of years after the end of food rationing in the early 1950s, and now towards the remaining few years one feels brave enough to see what some foreign foods taste like.
The only problem with quite a number of both traditional dishes, plus foreign foods, is that the words 'New added flavour', usually means Garlic in one of its many ways of being added to a Traditional Dish, means that my being allergic to both Garlic and Hot Spices means that more and more foodstuffs are unable to be bought and experienced, so as to avoid the rather unpleasant after effects that lead to a bad reaction. But this goes for many other retailers such as Lidl, Tesco, Aldi, and Sainsburys etc. All of who seem to believe that they are improving dishes that for generations haven't been so called 'Improved'.
Very hard to get help at self checkout but when you do the team are lovely
