Wax Newquay: Activity Bar

Did axe throwing with Spooks (aka Olivia I think). Had a brilliant time! She is so easy to get along with, had a great laugh. She had us in little competitions with each other and just made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Booked to go back to Newquay next year and will definitely be going back for another go.

We visited for the first time in August 2023.. we were so impressed with everything that we visited again less than a week later. We are tourists and visit Cornwall yearly, so we always look out for new experiences. We found this bar when looking for escape rooms. We have visited to play both of the escape rooms on offer and also tried our hands at axe throwing twice. The interactive darts is so much fun and so cheap for a full hour of play. The axe throwing is brilliant fun and the instructor is really keen to teach everyone. He was really helpful, friendly and attentive. Both of the escape rooms were high quality, with pretty high quality props. The rooms lack the ‘home made’ feel that most of the escape rooms in Cornwall have. They feel very professional. The prison escape room has one or two red herrings, whereas the mine escape has a more linear set of puzzles. My only gripe was that we could not complete the mine escape, as the numbers needed for one of the final puzzles had been worn away or had faded. They were all but invisible to us and the host admitted that they needed to be repainted. This didn’t spoil the game, as we had effectively ended the game (aside from one lock). The venue was not serving any food, however, this was okay at the time. There were bar snacks on offer. The bar is dog friendly!

We popped in here to play interactive darts. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We were taken to a small booth to play which was nice. The game was fun and there were a few different versions to play to keep things interesting. We also ordered a cocktail pitcher which went down well. We came as a couple but would definitely bring the kids as I'm sure they would love it too.
