The Portuguese Bar & Restaurant

We went to this restaurant on the middle day of our holiday, we were a large group of 11, 4 adults, 7 children, we hadn't booked anywhere to eat out, they fitted us in without any issue at all, the staff were very accommodating, and couldn't do more for us, the food was all fantastic, came out at the same time and was very hot, we didn't have a bad meal out of the 11 we ordered, it was all very reasonably price and great sized portions too. One last thing, the Portuguese custard tarts were probably the best I've ever had.

Just had yet another absolutely amazing meal here! The staff are always wonderfully helpful and fun, the food is lush and the complimentary pastelas de natas where the best I’ve ever tried, probably because they came with a little pot of cinnamon which I have never tried with them before, Definitely something I will be seeking out on my next trip to Portugal and definitely a restaurant that we will continue to frequent! A perfect piece of heaven that’s always makes me feel like I’m on holiday every time we go there! Love it!!

Fancied something different whilst on holidays in Newquay. This place does not stand out from the outside primarily due to the location, but get inside and it is very inviting. Seemed a bit short staffed and chaotic, but this somehow added to the ambiance. Staff very pleasant and welcoming. The prices are as expected, but the food is delicious and with good portions and every one of our party was well impressed. The complimentary port at the end of the night was an exceptional touch - something that reminds us well of our various continental trips. In fact, enjoyed it so much, we went back two days later to see if it was a one off, and was not disappointed. Bit of a wait to get it but after trying other items from the menu, we all had nothing but praise for the chef and staff. We were even offered two doses of the complimentary port (one a bit stronger), and all went down a treat. The manager is a pleasant lady and we can hear her shouting instructions to the team, which again added to the feel of the place. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended. Try it, you might like it to.

The best steak you will ever eat! This restaurant was wonderfully authentic with a perfect atmosphere and very attentive and friendly service. Visited for an anniversary meal, the seating was intimate which was exactly what we wanted, the food was delicious and after settling the bill, we were given a shot of port before leaving which I thought was a nice touch and perfect way to end a wonderful meal. Highly recommend visiting

Visited on our week long stay in Watergate Bay, and have to say this was a highlight. Beautiful food in a homely authentic restaurant, which has a family run feel of which you know they love their business with a passion. Fairly priced for the generous portion sizes and top quality of food. We had the seafood platter for starters, and they accommodated to adapt a main of ribs into a starter for us. The half chicken with garlic was divine, and my family had the seabass, ribs and steak. Sangria (by the jug!) also delicious. Excellent service, thank you for a lovely meal out!

Absolutely the best place to eat in Newquay... No... Anywhere!! Such lovingly prepared, tasty, authentic dishes. The most incredible wine selection (and display 👌🏼) I've ever experienced. Personal service from the owner, she's just a diamond 💎 it's like going to eat at a favorite family member's home. Always the best welcome. Do not miss it ❤️

Mixed group of Portuguese and English people, everyone was extremely satisfied with the food and service, was a calm lunch and the restaurant wasn't busy though. Mixed grill was fantastic, proper char grilled flavours, Dover was also great, no bones. Couvert was great with 6 different types of butter and pates. Large portions on the mains, and price was quite acceptable given the quantity / quality and the usual tourist location rates. We sat outside but indoors the restaurant looked modern and high end, alongside the toilets. All in all would recommend for both a fellow Portuguese person or any other person visiting, as there is dishes catering for both types of taste.
