Visited yesterday for a carvery as staying locally for the weekend. Other reviews had said The Lanherne offered a great carvery and they weren’t wrong!
The staff were so friendly and helpful, great sense of humour and banter which is often rare these days, perfect table for us to sit with our two four legged friends. Attentive service and then the food! Roast potatoes beautifully cooked - crispy and fluffy they were just like my gran used to make!! Excellent selection of veg which was freshly cooked and hadn’t been sat for ages under the heat lamps, the meat was delicious with generous portions given, and even jugs to take the gravy to the table!!!!
They even offered some meat cut offs to the dogs!
Would absolutely recommend and will definitely return on our next visit. Thank you to all the team!
Went back for carvery on one their 2 sittings 3pm and 6pm. Oh my! Went back twice it was delicious.
Booked as a 7 and Went back with 2 more recruits everyone really enjoyed it. Veg was great and the staff are all fab, nothing too much trouble. Great selection of vegetables all well cooked.
Even had just enough room for cheesecake 😋
Hoping it's still there next year and it keeps on doing what it's doing!
I dont do carvery normally I dint rate them but this was great!
Came here with my Mum, daughters and my girls' Dad and uncle in August 2023 for a meal. Absolutely lovely people who looked after us exceptionally well, served us delicious food and were really welcoming. Great place, thanks for having us and making our last evening memorable 😀
Went for the first time with my partner last Sunday for a carvery, my daughter & family suggested it and came with us, they were right the carvery was delicious meat was to Die for succulent & juicy beef, cheesy cauliflower , creamy dauphine potatoes & the rest was well seasoned we all had full plates and ate the lot. Lovely friendly staff, it is spacious clean bigger than you expect from the outside. All in all a wonderful delicious meal ...we will be back.
Came for a carvery and was not disappointed. Fantastic selection of vegetables and beautifully cooked meat. Friendly attentive staff and a warm and cosy restaurant, what more could you ask for on a Sunday evening?! Will be back again soon! Thank you ❤️
Lovely Sunday dinner. Great carvery with beef and pork cooked exceptionally well.
Nice selections of side. Very tasty with a home made feel.
My wife and I are locals, we've eaten here a few times and never been disappointed. The food and staff are excellent. We wouldnt eat carvery anywhere else. Highly recommended.
Popped into the Lanherne pub for some dinner with the kids and was served by a lovely lady named Julie. Julie was so attentive and super helpful, nothing was too much trouble and she was great with the two little babies we had. Food was amazing, prices are very good and you get a proper portion, I was surprised at the kids sizes meals too as these are very generous. If we are ever in Newquay again I will definitely be coming back, would strongly recommend.
Food: kids pizza & kids chicken nuggets. Chicken and rib (grill) & pulled BBQ pork.

The Lanherne Pub in Newquay is located a bit off the beaten track - several hundred meters from the town's busy beaches. As such, it is mainly frequented by folk from the area, not tourists. It offers a good range of beers (for once, not all St. Austell's!), including several hand-pumped ales from Tintagel Brewery. It is a HUGE place with two different outside seating areas - a bigger one on the front and a very small on on the back (see photos). There's a pool table near the bar area. During my visit only a handful of people were there, but it was still early in the evening on a weekday. Bar staff were very friendly, and the place has a pleasant feel to it, although I can imagine it gets quite loud during busier times.
Beer prices are rather civil and lower than average for Newquay.
Great pubs in Newquay are few and far between, since most of them cater to visitors from England and abroad and are very touristy. This one is the opposite: A really good community pub.
Lovely clean pub with very friendly staff. Good food & well kept pool tables. Lots of outside seating too.
