I can't comment on rooms, so I left the stars for that blank. Booked for Sunday lunch, shown to table downstairs in the restaurant. Very nice room full of character. Drinks arrived quickly, The beef was piled high and was beautifully cooked. Copious amounts of veg, and when we asked for extra grav
We were on holiday from Surrey and only found the pub on our last day, what a shame. Would have eaten here every day if discovered earlier. Great looking venue and lovely atmosphere. Super country food and very competitively priced. Have recommended to friends already who travel up soon. Hope to ret
Booked a meal to celebrate my dad's birthday. It was a busy Friday night but the service was friendly & efficient. All of the dishes were spectacular; my mum was delighted with the lobster and the venison was exquisite. Really great food, very reasonably priced and a fabulous location. If we didn't
We walked here from Percy Wood caravan park (35 minutes) for lunch. The road is quiet, but not advisable after dark, with few pavements. We ate in the dog-friendly area, which felt cosy and warm. We all ordered from the 2-courses-for-£16 menu. Very impressed. At that price you might expect slim port
I stayed there with a group of 19 golfers, couldn't fault it at all, from arriving to leaving the service we received was absolutely fantastic. The rooms were immaculate, comfortable beds which is what you want after a day on the golf course. The food was absolutely superb and the staff were too, ex
We have called in this evening on our way home after a lovely day out. I have just had the best mince and dumplings since my mum stopped cooking. My hat is well and truly off to the chef. The waiting/bar staff are lovely, attention to the customer and cleanliness gets 10/10. However, when I asked th
The rooms and menu are not really pub-like at all, which is what we were expecting and we struggled to choose food. The service was good but my main meal of duck was disappointing as it was tough and tasteless. Breakfast was also hit and miss. The full English was partly lukewarm and my kedgeree wa
It's the first time I've been here and I was very impressed with the overall look of the pub. The food was excellent with a good choice on the menu and the presentation was very professional. I will go again. Did not stay so unable to give a rating.
Absolutely incredible What a gorgeous pub. Food was amazing. Sunday dinner menu is an absolute must of you haven't been before. Such a beautiful friendly place to eat. Staff are wonderful. Love this place. On a nice Sunday evening, once you've sampled the superb 3 course Sunday dinner menu, take you
The lamb was delicious, really well cooked - I'd certainly have it again. Staff were good but it was hard to get their attention due to how busy the place was. It should be noted that vegan starters and main courses are available but there are no side or dessert options unfortunately.
The Cook and Barker is set a few miles south of Alnwick and is easy to find off the A1. Parking is ample and I believe there is good disabled access at the back. The pub is beautiful and very welcoming. Greeted by pleasant staff and quickly ushered to a table, this being my second visit to the Coo
Stunning food which never fails to impress..lovely service. Only gripe would be some tables are just too big for 3 people..
Excellent service, food and environment. An atmospheric old school eatery offering a few choices I’ve never seen on a Sunday Lunch menu before. Reasonable priced great tasting food. My wife and I enjoyed ours with a voucher supplied by her colleagues in recognition of her 25 years service within the
