On a trip around the Welsh countryside, decided to have a bite a local fast food in Newtown.
We chose Fish King as it had a close by parking and also parking place in front of the store.
The whole area of Newtown is beautiful but around the city centre, where Fish King is situated, everything is especially nice.
I had a fish and chips and my wife a special selection of chips, mushrooms, mushy peas, cod bites, and chicken.
The portions are absolutely enormous. We could not eat all of it.
Their usual customers noticed immediately that we are not locals and kept praising the shop as the best fast food in town. We did not test all of them but the locals might have and i believe them.
The batter was crispy and barely a few drops of oil were on the box.
The river side offers amazing views and it is a perfect place to relax after great food.
Definitely recommend.

We're from Northern Ireland (so we know a think about good carry-out food) but this was something else!
We got the fish (cod), sausages, burger and chips and it really hit the spot!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of being a guest in Fish King . The fish here is very tasty, it is not soaked in oil as it happens in other places. I also ate Greek Salad, very tasty. The dishes served here are packed in very nice and practical boxes, especially for children. The service here is very good and helpful. I can recommend this place , and I can say that I will come back here for sure .
A great discovery! Amazingly tasty fish and chips and excellent service. Although we had to wait as he was very busy, the guy chatted and joked with us whilst we waited. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and everyone was very busy. The food was well worth aiting for. Will definitely go there again.

Best fish and chips in town. Fresh, good quality and generous portions for a reasonable price.
The couple that run it are so friendly and make every effort to give good service.

Best fish and chips I ever had. They have as well Greek food, my first time when I tried and I recommended. Everything is homemade and fresh. Very nice and friendly people.
I decided to pop in one night to see what dairy free options were available as I have a recently diagnosed milk allergy and my usual takeaways are now incredibly limited in choice. I was spoken to with respect and care, ingredients were checked carefully and a fresh, beautiful Greek meal was prepared especially for me!! Not only was the food amazing but I was overwhelmed by how accommodating and helpful the server was. I've had lots of eye rolling and huffing when I've asked elsewhere in Newtown and it's makes an already difficult life change even more emotional challenging. Fish King is now my favourite and first choice takeaway. Thank you Fish King!!

Really rate this place, my friend recommended the Greek menu so I took a visit and wasn't disappointed. super friendly staff and owner clearly puts time and effort into making great tasting food. Great takeaway.
We tried the Fish King in Newtown for the first time, & we had a beautiful greek meal! The prices were extremely reasonable, & the portion size was fab! I called first to get some recommendations & they were so helpful to ensure i had the best of what they offer within what i wanted to try! Do not get me going on the greek salad!!! When my husband went to collect he said the place was completely done up & nice & clean (he is very specific about hygiene where he eats) & they were very friendly!
P10/10 from us & we will definitely be returning!
