Amazing healthy tasty home cooked food. Totally unique. Local ingredients cooked to perfection accompanied by home made chutney and mayonnaise. The hazelnut and raspberry meringue is a must try.
Went to the Briton Arms with my mum whose come in from India and she said the chocolate cream cake was one of the best cakes she had for a long time. Light, yet decadent.
Warm welcome for us all, including the dog (who even got brought his own carrot) great food using fresh local produce. Lovely lunch.
Last Saturday myself and a group of friends visited the Briton's Arms and had the most wonderful time.Very attentive staff, delicious home cooked food, fantastic setting nestled in the heart of Norwich and very reasonably priced too,We will be back. Thanks so much .
Lovely Resteraunt delicious food especially cakes! đVery friendly and helpful staff đ
Fab coffee. Fab cakes. Lovely building. Yummy!
Best sausage rolls in the galaxy. Set in a beautiful building with great staff.
Sue and Gilly Run a fabulous eatery here. Great food, atmosphere, building, and of course a bright, warm, welcome from everyone.
Be warned CASH ONLY, but that just adds to the quaintness. Good cake, excellent scotch eggs
Nice time spending there. Lovely place.
Fantastically quaint little retreat. The atmosphere and staff were great. The coffee and walnut cake was a little dry but the mocha was one of the best. Loved the cast iron pot for the tea. When we're hungry for more, this is certainly one of the places we want to revisit as the food coming out looked great.
Booked a table for 4 for afternoon tea on a Saturday. Situated in an old medieval building on the corner of Elm Hill. We were sat downstairs and space can be a bit tight. We received fantastic service. Would definitely recommend their afternoon tea for price and quality. Good variety of sandwich fillings, complemented with homemade sausage roll, perfectly baked fruit scone and a selection of delicious cakes. We were all full by the end of it. Will definitely be coming back! Thanks.
Lovely Roast dinner on Sunday. Beautiful building, great hosts and a great meal. I had a luxurious hot chocolate with my Roast beef with all the trimmings. Definitely going back for a breakfast or lunch.
Lovely salmon/horseradish quiche, new potatoes were great and salad.
Service very good. Nothing was too much trouble. Prices very reasonable.
Have been several times and never fails to deliver very good food and service
.
Had a fantastic lunch here, homemade mackerel pate and a great salad with some unusual things like crunchy peas and pumpkin seeds, so good! Home made cakes, fantastic range of soft drinks, like rose lemonade. Great service too.
Really nice food at a reasonable price, generous portions. Outside beautiful but inside lacked ambience and character. This could be amazing but just needs some music, a little interior design help and some updated furniture. It's pub food in a cafe setting so there's a part of me that's looking for a wood burner etc. It would be helpful to have a printed menu and some fresh/dried rather than plastic flowers. Friendly staff :)
My RIP (romantically involved person) and I visited here around 6 pm on a sunny Saturday after a couple of hours of mildly energetic rowing on the Wensum. Consequently, we were both thirsty and hungry, but whatâs more in a bit of a hurry, as we had tickets to the theatre (Julius Caesar - donât bother). We were accommodated adroitly; our request for a jug of water and a glass of excellent local wine was fulfilled promptly. The food was also served quickly and it was outstanding; the veg were cooked just right, and my companionâs fish pie was top notch; I had the chicken supreme which was very tasty, and the accompanying sauce was worthy of a eulogy by Mark Anthony. Oh and the salt and pepper pots were âsuffused with whimsyâ, according to our host, if not salt and pepper, but this was quickly corrected. We left satiated and impressed at the value for money on offer.
Perfect place for a delicious evening meal. The menu is varied and creative, the venue snug and full of character and the chef and owner, Richard Ellis, an amazing chap who was happy to chat through his menu and his incredible culinary book collection which added interest to an already wonderful evening.
I had the gnocchi as a main course (on the menu as a starter) and the bowl of fantastic flavours and textures filled the spot perfectly. The pears poached in wine and served with an amazing chocolate chilli sauce was a chocolate loverâs dream but my husbandâs banana split was equally incredible.
Each menu item took many familiar and otherwise ordinary ingredients and mixed them up, adding flavours and twists to create something totally out of the ordinary and utterly delicious.
This appears to be one of Norwichâs best kept secrets as an evening dining venue, even though it is very popular as a day time coffee shop. It deserves to be rammed every evening.
If you want a cracking Sunday lunch in a stunning part of town, give this place a try. The plates are piled high of quality tasty food, and for a very reasonable price. The building also has a lot of historical charm about it.
Had a wonderful meal here with friends. I have Celiac Disease and other dietary restrictions and they made me a delicious meal that fully complied with all my requirements. They made me feel respected despite my 'quirks' and even seemed to enjoy the challenge. Will definitely return and am highly recommending to all my friends and family.
Had a wonderful meal at The Britons Arms while in Norwich visiting with friends. Enjoyed a pork shoulder with potatoes, veggies and a great sauce. Reasonable pricing, nice atmosphere and fine service.
Glorious old building. The cosy garden has pleasant views of medieval churches. Interesting menu with GF options. I enjoyed the tasty vegan pie. I like the way the default sausages on the menu are vegan (with meat available on request đ„!)
Afternoon tea with friends. ÂŁ18 pp, a lovely setting & friendly staff.
Facilities must be too small or old as my meal had changed when I received it. Fortunately I didn't mind. They were very rushed and slow on the Sunday. Ideal for smaller coffee cake visits. Beautiful tasting cuisine though. Just not what I asked for. The vegan pie was also more bland than described. Toilet v cold! However i did have a beautiful moment when I saw that view over Elm Hill! Summary they are trying very hard and wish them every success.
I found out here by accident and turned out reallt good choice! They have really good menu options including foods and desserts. The atmosphere is recommended to read or stay shortly. The staff is nice!
Wonderful atmospheric, historic location, super warm and friendly service and excellent delicious food. Very reasonable prices. Lovely vegan options. One of the very best places to visit in Norwich.
Dropped in for coffee with friends while passing through Norwich.
Quirky olde worlde building with friendly service. Hope to visit again and try the food as well.
We had veggie roast and it was delicious. Best veggie roast i had for a long time. The staff were really friendly and helpful.
