My third visit to ThaiKun and this is what I always order. I forgot the name of the dish but the chicken is marinated in garlic and pepper sauce and it's amazing!
Delicious. Good portions. Amazing curry and soup. Healthy kids meal.
Seafood allergies: I asked the waitress, who was very helpful, about any seafood content of the dishes that wasn't itemised on the menu. I was told that ALL the curries contain prawn paste, but that there were two dishes on the menu that would be safe to eat. (It's quite possible that there are a few more, but those were all that were listed by the chef.) I was somewhat disappointed.
However the food was well cooked, the staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant aesthetics take a little getting used to, but make sense.
I visited Thaikhun in May with work colleagues. We went as a group of 8.
Some of the group arrived a little earlier than our booking, but table was ready for us and we were seated promptly. The server arranged drinks, which turned up quickly. When my other colleagues arrived, the server was quick to check that the rest of group was happy.
We ordered starters and mains. I shared Moo Dad Deow with one colleague for a starter, and the portion was huge and plenty enough for two. It was well seasoned, and came out hot and promptly.
For my main I had seafood noodles with chilli (not sure what that one was called). It was tasty, and the prawns tasted fresh without being overcooked. I would probably have preferred a little more spice, but I think this would cater for most tastes (I do prefer my food extra hot).
We tried some of the Thai red wine, which was surprisingly light, like a Pinot Noir despite a darker colour. Very easy drinking and would suit most of the menu.
The service itself was great - all staff quick and tentative. It was a Wednesday night and not that busy, so I'm not sure what it would be like at the weekend, but based on this experience I would recommend.
Good atmosphere and space. Attentive service and the starter platter is excellent. A but disappointed that my main, despite being described as spicy was not spicy at all.
This place gets it just right. From the friendly greeting at the door through to the great decor, lovely food and brilliant service the whole experience is stop on. Highly recommended.
One of the best Thai restaurants i have visited.. loved the food specially the dessert being chocolate chilli, thai whisky ice creams and hot drink called full moon at its best.
Great food but service is often a bit hit and miss, sometimes it takes ages to get served, other times you're seen to quickly.
From getting there to finishing was 25 mins. Great food. Fair pricing
Excellent service was quiet though as during the.day the food was amazing and room garden nice touch
