Ate here for the first time on a Saturday afternoon & it was a lovely experience. The dining hall is big, open & spacious with high ceilings & big doors that open to an outside seating area which is great on a sunny day like when we went. The menu is fantastic as is the food, drinks menu also excellent. Staff were great, very young staff but very polite & attentive. Definitely recommend a visit & will be going again soon to try their Sunday lunch

We called in here for the toilet, then decided to get something to eat, it was beautiful inside, my friend went to the toilet and I was seated by a most polite waiter, who brought the menus, and a bottle of ice cold water from the fridge, which was very welcome, I looked at the menu and saw A'la Carte, and immediately thought this is not going to be a normal lunch, on looking at the menu, my mouth started yum yum at what I could have, my friends returned, looked at the menu and I knew they thought the same, so I said right we have come out for a special lunch, so we picked our choices which were.....
Starters......
Ginger Marinated Pigeon Breast
Prawn Cocktail (Bloody Mary Sauce)
Duck Liver & Brandy Pate.
Mains.....
Slow Braised Beef Cheek
Homemade Suet Pie with Triple cooked chips.
Ceasar Salad, Boiled skin Potato and side of Fresh Salmon
These meals were out of the world, the taste sublime, the presentation amazing, worth every penny, the service was amazing, the dish I had, Slow Braised Beef Cheek was awarded the 2 Rosette Award, and I could see why..... we couldn't manage the pudding menu, on paying the bill it came to just under £90, so £30 each, was delighted with the price for such beautifully served tasteful food, it was only a few days before it cost me £80 for a takeaway curry at my son's house, The Griffin would win hands down everytime, you need to go here and sample the delicious food and ambience of The Griffin, we will definitely be going back, and maybe make it a cheeky night away in the hotel too.

Was a walk-in with a friend who had heard good things about the food. Unfortunately, we were told they were fully booked so we sat with a drink. About 5-10 minutes later the gentleman who had served the drinks had gone out his way to ask the chef if they could fit 2 more people in! We enjoyed a brilliant roast dinner, friendly staff, nice ambience. Highly recommended, make sure you book a table just in case.
Thank you

Had a lovely Sunday roast here - the food itself was excellent and good quality. We will definitely return and I would recommend to anyone looking to book somewhere for a great Sunday roast. The service was also excellent and the restaurant area is decorated nicely with a good ambience.

My friends had a wedding here and we were blown away with not only the food but the lovely friendly but professional service.
The place was perfect for a wedding and the staff dealt with us all so well! The poor weather wasn’t an issue as we managed to move inside when the downpour came and felt cosy and well looked after
Thank you!

Lovely place. Tasteful decor. Didn't eat there this time around but did enquire about gluten-free options which we have been advised they have many. Had an ale or two. Relaxing atmosphere with a warm ambiance.

1st time dining at the Griffin and I am impressed. The decor, clientele and food is excellent, as well as the service. My only suggestion, is the service for aperitifs could of been a little quicker.
All of our table of five enjoyed it and will be returning very soon.

Such a lovely pub in a fantastic setting. The beer garden is gorgeous. If you’re looking for a place to simply relax with a drink, it’s perfect. I had the afternoon tea and it was lovely. Staff can’t do enough for you. Thanks Dan.

I booked a corporate work meal for 20 people at The Griffin, this was all completed through an intial conversation and emails. This was done with ease, creating a bespoke menu for the evening which I could share for pre-orders. The evening went well including great service and overall management of the party. The food came out hot, not too quickly between courses and the attention to detail was great.
This was all organised and ran on the evening by Milly. A huge thank you to her she was welcoming, polite, organised and so attentive on the evening as our host. Thank you to her!
I would recommend for an evening or a work event.

Popped in for a drink and food in the beer garden while on a bike ride but they had stopped taking orders for dinner by that time.
Beautiful place and will definitely go back.
Someone else's food came out while we were there and it looked amazing!

Came here in a group of 5 for Sunday lunch. Very stylish, comfortable decor and great service! Everyone was very attentive! The food was amazing and will definitely come back again. Any criticism would be dessert portions were so big none of us could finish it. Take that as you please but we hate waste, so half the amount would have been enough!

We had our wedding a couple of days ago here. Wonderful venue, superb and friendly staff. The management was so helpful organising the whole event, just made everything very smooth and easy. The food was way beyond our expectations, everyone had a fantastic time and we were well looked after. I want to thank you for having us, and I encourage the reader of this review, and my friends if they have a wedding or any event, do come here! I'll be back for a dinner with my wife for sure.

Had a lovely meal to celebrate our 30th anniversary and share our celebration with a close friends birthday. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff, made to feel very welcome, a very covid safe environment. Lovely bottle of champagne and great food.
Thanks to the chef and all the excellent staff.
We will be back soon.

We visited one Sunday before Christmas and enjoyed the best Sunday lunch we’ve ever had out. The food was amazing! The staff and service were great - really friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant itself is really lovely - nicely spaced out with lots of light. Good music that wasn’t too load whilst providing a good atmosphere for everyone. I hadn’t been to The Griffin for years and it has certainly changed a lot since I last visited - you can really see the investment they have made. It is a fantastic pub and restaurant with a beautiful bar and fireplace. Will definitely go again! Highly recommended!!
