I had high expectations for this restaurant from looking at previous reviews and I wasn't disappointed. Atmosphere was nice, quite simple and i wouldnt say anything unique or symbolic of the restaurant but stylish and clean. Service was very good, attentative, friendly and well timed.
The food was delicious, I had the scallop, my partner the crab and both fragrant and tasty. For main I had the lamb and it was fantastic, my partner had the fillet of beef, cut like butter and beautiful subtle flavour. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes and although we ordered some chips and greens it wasn't for volume.
All in all a brilliant place for both an intimate date night and group of friends/celebration.

Amazing meal! Service is 10/10 also. Really impressed with the food it was my first time here with my parents and we will be back again, we had chicken liver parfait for starter which I would recommend! Cod and mussels for main aswell as the pork tenderloin which was my favourite dish and then chocolate anglaise for dessert! Couldn’t fault anything
This is the second time my partner and myself have been to Cleaver and Wake, both times have been exceptional. Days later and we are both still talking about how fantastic it was. The atmosphere, food and service were all impeccable. Harry is a great asset and credit to your team and restaurant. We love it that much, we’re back next week for a Sunday dinner! Can’t wait to be back!!

Cleaver & Wake did not disappoint - this is a restaurant that definitely helps Nottingham become the city for fine dining. Everything from the food, to the decor to the building itself was superb. We went for Sunday lunch and it was great to be able to watch the chefs prepare the food and see how much hard work goes in. Unfortunately we have only been once so far but next time will be trying the dinner menu. Laurence Henry has done a sterling job and I really hope Cleaver & Wake gets the recognition it deserves as time goes on. Michelin star perhaps?
Lovely food, lovely atmosphere, lovely staff...attentive service and we really enjoyed ourselves. We'll be back with more friends very soon! Our new fav restaurant in central Nottingham and conveniently located within walking distance of the train station too! Winner, winner!
We were very blessed to get some Cleaver & Wake vouchers for Christmas, and we finally visited this week.
The staff were super friendly and offered a huge range of cocktails in the bar. We were then shown our table and within minutes we were asked if we wanted to move as a nicer one had become available, nice touch.
We both decided just to go for the main course... until we got the menu and very quickly changed our minds to go for starters too. Everything was delicious and it was amazing seeing how the kitchen staff were keeping everything on track.
A delicious addition to Nottingham, already booked to go back.

Went for Sunday lunch.
Nice welcome at reception. Decor is modern, simple and clean, couldn't fault it.
Staff are very good, nice, polite and attentive without being overbearing.
The food:
The salt baked celeriac was fantastic, exceptional presentation and very tasty.
The beef sirloin was beautifully cooked and the accompanying vegetables were very good, with exception to the roast potatoes. The outside of the potatoes were a little tough to cut into and a little dry on the inside. I think they had been roasted and then kept warm (for to long). Again, the presentation was very good.
Chocolate delice with ice cream for desert. Very nice, very rich. Again the presentation was great, decorated with honeycomb and chocolate pieces. It wasn't a large portion, but you wouldn't want any more due to the richness, perfect portion size in my opinion.
When the bill came there was a couple of glasses of wine on it that we hadn't had. They were removed when we pointed it out.
Service charge of 10% automatically added, which I think was fine, especially for the service we received.
Another downside which has nothing to do with the venue or food, was the small (6) young group of people on the table behind us.
They were very loud and the woman with a horribly loud laugh could be heard when I was in the men's room, some distance from where she was.
Overall a very nice restaurant with great food.

We had a fantastic table overlooking the kitchen, the chefs were top class.
Paid every attention to detail, worked brilliantly as a team and produced some of the best food we’ve ever had.
The crab starter and the Rib Eye steak were incredible.

Came for our anniversary and was a perfect place to celebrate. Beautiful setting and interior, all the staff were very attentive and professional. Complementary bread with marmite butter was divine. Steak tartare starter was flavoursome with plenty of texture. Pidgeon bbq main was superb though the sausage could have been warmer. Ribeye was better than Hawksmoor. Both desserts were delicious. Overall Cleaver and Wake did meet and exceed expectations. Will be back for another special occasion for sure.
We got served by the lovely Hannah. She was incredible, so polite and very accommodating. She was super professional whilst keeping a warm friendly character.
We couldn’t recommend this bar enough, and very happy we stopped in.
Thankyou again for the wonderful experience and will definitely return next time we’re in Nottingham.

Fantastic evening with amazing food and drinks, impeccable service, super friendly staff made us feel incredibly welcome and comfortable. You can tell these guys are well trained and just nice people.

We went for my girlfriend’s birthday and they had a really classy little happy birthday card on the table before we arrived. None of this over the top sing song, just a little card.
We sat right next to the kitchen and it wasn’t loud or chaotic, it was all so calm and controlled and just a well oiled machine. Best seats in the house. The head chef even chatted to us and kept making sure all was good with our courses.
Last night was wonderful , I can’t fault anything , walking in the door being greeted by what can only be described as a team of staff who quite clearly love working there , the bar staff , the lady who waited on us , it was also great to be able to watch the very talented team take great pride and joy in creating beautiful food.
A great experience

Birthday celebration
We've been before for lunch but not in the evening. We managed to book this fabulous restaurant to celebrate a special occasion.
Started off with a couple of cocktails in the bar.
One being a classic Mojito that is not on the menu,but they gladly accommodated.
When seated in the restaurant, there was a lovely birthday card on the table,quickly followed by a glass of Champagne.
Which was totally unexpected and a very nice touch.
To start, we had Oysters

For the first course, we chose
Beef Fillet Tartare
Black garlic, mushroom, confit egg yolk & sourdough crostini.
Spiced Crab Salad.
Nashi pear, brown crab ice cream & sourdough.
Mains
Tandoori Monkfish
Coriander and mint chutney, mango relish, curied musel, fennel & monksfish bhaji.
8oz Fillet Steak
Served with triple cooked chips, onion ring & dressed baby leaves.
Along with a trio of very tasty sauces.
With sides of
Buttered BBQ Hispi cabbage
Purple sprouting Broccoli.

White chocolate pafait, macerated strawberries, sable biscuit crumb & strawberry meringue.
Everything was absolutely delicious.
We were treated very well, especially by the chef Hira,and the staff are all friendly and professional.
Even though it was a very busy night, service was very brisk and efficient.

Absolutely delicious food, really very very good. The service was sublime, some of the best I've experienced in the UK which is insane for such a new restaurant. All of the staff were incredible with my fiancé who was celebrating her birthday.
