An extremely pleasant afternoon sat outside on a sunny afternoon.
The pub was recommended to me by a friend.
I hadn’t taken into account there was private parking at the back. Noted for future use.
The inside looked lovely and colourful all decked out in Autumn colours.
The staff were welcoming and helpful, and they took cards AND cash.
I’m definitely returning and making this my new go to local place to meet.

Have not stayed here hence have not scored the rooms. It is a lovely place for get togethers and family celebrations. Light and sunny dining room, very affordable wine list and good food. Service is always friendly.

Another beautifully situated Bel & Dragon.
We were given a large room, decor in the usual Bel & Dragon style. It's a little tired and attention to minor but significant points would help guests. Bathroom steams up, as the window doesn't open and it appears the vent isn't extracting, and lightbulbs need replacing as only one works. Points on the water tap fall off, as does the large wardrobe door handle. Bedside lamps are plugged in with the help of an extender behind the bed, we had to move the bed to get to the extender to plug that in for lamps to work. The light in the recess above tea and coffee making only works if all the ceiling lights are on. ...no getting up and making a cuppa with covert lighting there then! Minor points, but important.

Fantastic bedroom, very quiet despite overlooking the High Street. Food was very good but some items are very expensive. Staff were great, lovely people with a passion.
Very interesting wine menu. A lovely surprise anniversary sweet! and the Baked Alaska was mind blowing Overall a great day and evening lovely town. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Really lovely pub with a relaxing courtyard out the back. Food was delicious. Service was good to begin with but we were waiting ages for the bill and had to chase to pay. Besides that, would definitely go again.

Lovely building with lots of tastefully decorated areas to drink and dine. Food was above average. Waiting staff were attentive and friendly. However, there didn't seem enough of them, which meant there were longer waits to get additional drinks or asking for the bill.

I rarely leave reviews but felt compelled to do so having had a fabulous lunchtime meal. It was also my father's 86th birthday and the staff went out of their way to make the meal special. The choice from the menu was great plus there were four specials. The food was great, the service excellent and the setting delightful. Highly recommended.

Lovely pub, fantastic staff and delicious food. The food alone is worth five stars. We shared a feast: rib of rare beef plus a whole roast chicken on a bed of roast vegetables. Absolutely amazing! Staff were wonderful too; looking after our kids (even sharpening their colouring pencils) and could not have been more helpful throughout. All in a wonderful pub that mixed a traditional panelled lounge bar with a bright open dining room. We will be back, and recommend it to others too. Thank you.

Had a very nice room, no complaints there. Food whilst very nice it was very expensive. No sides like veg or fries included on most dishes which was wrong for the £££. Pub and hotel side can't fault, restaurant bit over priced for what you get.

This is my second time staying here and my trip was unexpectedly extended by two weeks due to Covid. I ended up isolating in my room and Andrew and the team literally made me feel like I was at home. I had knocks on the door several times per day checking up on me, offers to get supplies, takeaways, meals delivered to my room etc. Rooms had to be reshuffled so I could stay in the same one but nothing was ever to hard.
That all aside the food is great, rooms are lovely and the bar is a great place to have an ale and get to know the locals, I almost feel like one now heading into week 3!
Can't recommend the place enough if you're passing through or here for work like myself.

Andrew and the team make every guest feel welcome. Friendly check-in, excellent amenities (including complementary Sloe Gin) and a great breakfast. Ample parking was available and the room wanted for nothing.
I would highly recommend and I’m now looking for an excuse to stay again. I should add that I first visited a decade ago and the quality and comfort has significantly improved following the renovation and changes under Andrew’s new team.
