Not usually one for writing reviews but just stopped here for an impromptu lunch on the way home from a weekend away. Such a homely, quirky pub inside, and we received a lovely (And genuine) welcome. Food is very reasonably priced, and the topside of beef was perfectly cooked. Dinner was absolutely beautiful and I can't recommend it enough. The only negative I can find (And really, really clutching at straws for this) is it would be quite nice to have some background music? But having said that we are looking into booking to stay here in the future, so this wasn't a huge issue!

Called in for Sunday lunch today. It was the best pub lunch I've had in years. I had the roast dinner which was absolutely delicious and the rest of the group opted for the meat pie which was equally as good. Highly recommend!

Was a very random choice on our way across the A59. What a great choice it was. Staff were lovely and attentive. Ales were great. But... the steak and ale pie. Well, it’s definitely the best I’ve had in years. Delicious gravy, incredible melt in the mouth meat and great chips. Bravo to the team.

Local pub / Hotel to where we staying, we rang and got a table booked in to ensure we could eat. Staff very helpful and seated us quickly. We ordered food and drinks, both great and arrived in a reasonable time. Great experience after such a long time of not being able to go inside places to eat

Had a meal with friends at the restaurant on Sunday. Warm hospitality, very accomodating, not long to wait and when the food arrived it was flavoursome and beautifully presented. The desserts were exceptionally delicious. Would definitely come again.

Very pleasant experience, homely with friendly staff. 2 diners were vegan and despite there being nothing vegan on the menu they cooked a mushroom risotto fresh for them which we thought was very considerate! Would recommend, there's some decent walks nearby. Menu small but varied and big board of specials. Sandwiches and chips substantial and definitely recommended. Dined as 6 friends Saturday lunchtime

Stopped on spec having been let down elsewhere. Had a great menu and good value. We needed gluten free and they bent over backwards to help. Only serving outside so need good weather which we had. A real pleasure to hear here

Thanks for such a delicious lunch on Wednesday! We had a lovely lunch after a walk to celebrate a friend's birthday. The staff were very welcoming, atmosphere cosy, with log fire. We pre-ordered most of the meals,as a party of nine, but staff very understanding and flexible as one wanted to order on the day. All the food came out together, lovely and warm, and delicious. We will definitely return! Thanks

Lovely beer garden and tons of outdoor space with plenty of cover if needed. Cask ale was perfect..Best pint of ale I've had since before lockdown. Service was a little slow at times but staff were really friendly and nice to talk to.

A lovely little traditional country pub we discovered by accident while out walking. The staff were warm and friendly and the lunch was lovely and extremely reasonably priced. Sign outside says closed Mondays. ( Not sure if that's the whole pub or just the kitchen) .
