Staff are friendly, .welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
The rooms are on the small side but totally big enough for our needs and the bed was super comfy.
The pub is in a very quiet spot but its a 10 minute stroll to catch a bus into Oxford.
Planning another stay next year.
The room was lovely and very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast excellent and all the staff were welcoming and helpful. Would visit again and I highly recommend it
This is a great place. We had a small issue with our original room but it was sorted straight away by giving us another room. But all the rooms were very nicely decorated and clean with a comfortable bed. The staff were very friendly. The pub itself was more gastro pub than drinkers pub. But we didn't feel uncomfortable just drinking. The breakfast was very good. The village was really quaint and worth a walk around. Buses are just up the road if you want to go into Oxford Town centre. So overall its a perfect place to stay.
Eaten here twice for lunch while breaking a long journey. Close to the M40 and parking outside and nearby car park. Friendly, quick relaxed service. Set 2 course menu including a drink £16. I'm only giving 4 stars though because the vegetarian and vegan options are limited and they should expand this section of the menu.
We came for lunch - delicious food :) ...especially for the price. Service was fantastic...the manager Sarah and all the staff are amazing...if only all pubs could be like this ....

We stayed one night here and everything was good. The staff were lovely, the room was smart, modern and clean. They were generous with tea and coffee facilities and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast, I had the full English, was one of the best I’ve had anywhere. I would definitely stay here again.
Had Sunday roast which was fabulous. Service very good. Dessert lovely. Was very expensive so definitely more of a 'treat' rather than regular occurrence. They did add on a 12% service charge without asking, then offered to remove it. Overall would recommend but it is pricey.
Excellent place, great food and lovely staff. Very convenient for us we enjoy every time we go there.

Lovely place to stay. The staff are excellent.
They were let down by one of the meals being disguised because of ingredients shortage. Wish they were just honest and gave us a chance to choose something else.
Overall well worth a visit and overall the food was good.
A group of 16 of us turned up without a prior on a Friday afternoon just trying our luck- was met with friendly service and a good drink selection. Lovely indoor decor and spacious garden- well worth a visit if you’re local in the area. We will be back for sure one day. Thanks to the pub lady in the below picture for the friendly hospitality
Enjoyed a fab set menu lunch here today. Great value and also included a glass of good quality wine. Very friendly staff. They even put extra logs on the fire for us.

A very warm friendly pub just off the High Street in Headington; the staff were attentive and helpful. The food was nicely cooked and presented. The two course £16.00 lunch menu option was good value.
I stopped at the black boy for 4 nights as was visiting a friend.
The staff were polite and friendly and the food was good.
I also liked the room and the decor of the b and b.
Only thing was mainly the cleanliness of the room.
There were cobwebs when I arrived and alot of surfaces were dusty and there was a hole In the curtain. The hand wash, shampoo and conditioner were near on empty aswell, they should of been topped up for a new guest arriving.
But it was a nice place and would stay again

My partner and I were only staying for one night as a stop on a journey but are so pleased we found it and will definitely be returning. The room was a good size, well decorated and comfortable - we felt at home straight away. Staff were welcoming and polite, nothing seemed too much trouble. We had dinner as well as breakfast and both meals were fantastic, good portion sizes and a few nice options on the menu. We'd definitely recommend The Black Boy, both for food and to stay.
One of my locals and a really lovely pub. Staff are very welcoming and pleasant. Good selection of drinks and a great garden round the back. Not eaten here yet but it always looks good when it comes out!
