Look no further than Olive's if you are in search of the best sandwich that Oxford has to offer. In addition to the freshest and highest quality of ingredients every time, Kristof's warm and welcoming demeanor keeps customers smiling. The baguette with buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, basil, sun dried tomatoes, and an olive oil drizzle just can't be beat. Throw in a bit of olive tapenade if you're feeling adventurous.
Just bought a bacon baguette and a cup of hot chocolate here. Hubby and I were sightseeing to Oxford University and we wanted something simple and affordable for our dinner. Olive's delicatessen caught our attention as the place is so cute and chic and it says "voted as the best place for sandwiches by students ."
The Staffs are nice and very attentive to every customer. The place is small and there's no seats available , so it's only for take away.
The hot chocolate is extremely rich and good and not too sweet. The baguette is also huge and delicious! And we only spent £ 6.10 for everything. No wonder it is a favorite among students at Oxford☺️
As its name might suggest, there is a wide array of olives on display, my favourite of which is the feta-stuffed Greek kalamata olives. These beauties are huge and so meaty and juicy, it's akin to biting into a piece of meat than an olive. Worth a visit just for the olives.
Olive's Delicatessen - Oxford, England. This place proudly stands as one of the favourites amongst the students at Oxford. A tiny, postage-stamp sized shop it is also a takeaway eatery. Any buzz which has been heard is to be believed.
Inside is even smaller than implied, as most of the time it is open there are clientele awaiting their orders. Unlike a lot of places with this aspect I did not feel issue with feeling that you could not literally swing your arms without knocking something over (and breaking it - most items in delicatessens do use glass containers) or ramming into someone. It is cosy and there are no seats so it is basically eat on the run (or sit on the pavement) here.
The staff here do very well with orchestrating orders. They are exceptionally friendly and efficient.
I got a couple of deals here to share with someone, and it cost all but £5 total. The deals were a pain au chocolat & choice of coffee and a Nutella panini & choice of coffee. Both times the choice of coffee was a double espresso. The espresso here is quite good and slightly rich.
While the pain au chocolat was good, it could have been heated up; often pain au chocolats are good when warm and/or fresh and the chocolate is melted. The pannini was really good, with a surprisingly generous amount of Nutella put in the pannini - it was warm, chocolaty and delicious.
The affordability and quality are both factors that will influence me returning here again.
Not sure if this is the same place as Italiamo Café but it was a lovely place to stop off and get some sweet treats whilst we were journeying through Oxford in the rain. Delicious little bites with pistachio!
