George's Restaurant - Oxford

Was in town and decided to stay away from the chain places. Stopped in around 4pm Sunday and was seated quickly. Staff was great got the homemade chips and stuffed ravioli both were great especially the homemade chips. For the meal it was a large pizza and Mediterranean chicken kabobs. The pizza had a almost pretzel like crust on it. Both were great. When in town again it's going to be a must visit.

I've have a few unpleasant encounters here, but this last one may have solidified my not spending any money supporting this place from this point forward. First off I called to place an order I was hung up on twice in a row. The third time I got someone I was told the order would take 20-25min, I ordered a Salad. When I arrived maybe 10 min later, the picture attached showed what I saw, hardly anyone in the parking lot, with that and seeing only 4 people sitting inside how does it take 20-25 min to prepare a salad!? I go to pay for my food, I added Salmon to my salad, the total was over $20! I was like "How much is the Salmon!? The Salmon cost more than the salad itself, the salad cost $8. I was told that their ( I say theirs because I have never known anyone else to charge this much for salmon) market price for Salmon is $12! I was like do you even have a Salmon dish on your menu and was told they do which I think is overpriced as well. If you go to the Cheesecake factory and order Salmon on your salad the up charge will be $6, HALF what Georges charges, and if you go to Texas Roadhouse, they have a Salmon salad on their menu for $14, which is about 30% cheaper than here. With all of this, I add don't go to their website and order your food, the prices on their website appear to be "Cheaper" than that of paying inside. I say that because if you order online then go to pick up your food you'll see that it will be more expensive than what you saw your final price online, and what hurts is that they know it, have known it for sometime now but have yet to change it. I say all of this to bring attention to the fact that this place of business is placing these outrageous prices on their food and it isn't right. The only reason why they do it is because there is no competition in the area to compete with and in stead of providing their area with amazing quality food, they are literally taking advantage of this nice small town. This place needs to be reevaluated, you are not a Michelin star restaurant, act accordingly.

Excellent Chicken Philly Sub! Filling amount and great tasting chicken, peppers, etc. Bread seems homemade/ freshly made? Tasted great, crisp exterior/ soft interior. Fries were great as well. Respectfully speedy and friendly service, considering full dining room during lunch time. Great sweet tea and lemonade.

Excellent Atmosphere! We were immediately greeted as we walked in the door. The two ladies behind the counter, who were busy helping someone else, politely assured us that we would be seated soon. We ended up waiting about one minute. During that one minute, we were greeted by four other employees (waiters who were either bringing out someone's order or taking back someone's order. Every single one greeted us as they passed, and took the time to assure us that we would be helped soon. Each person had a smile and seemed genuine too. After we were seated, our waiter (Shade) immediately came to our table. He was professional, but very friendly, and had a sense of humor. He promptly brought out our drinks. After our order was placed, several employees passed by our table, greeting us as they passed. It wasn't long before we had our dinner. During dinner, we were asked by several employees, if everything was okay. Even the young lady who was cleaning, made brief, polite conversation as she cleaned a table next to ours. We will definitely eat here again! Excellent atmosphere, great portions, and the prices were good too.

We have been here many times- but I had to leave a review to say that our waiter, Shayde, was one of the BEST waiters we have ever had anywhere. The food was awesome, as always, but when you have a great waiter that genuinely takes care of you, the food is that much better. He even helped us explain to the boys with us what a waiters job was in a way a 9yo and 7yo could understand.

A very bad experience tonight April 7, 2022. We arrive at George’s in Oxford at 8 o’clock order our food and did not receive a food until little after 910 I asked the waitress what was taking so long and her reply was there busy in the kitchen. When we finally got our food well over an hour later The waitress never apologize for the delay but simply laughed and made lite of it. It was after 9 o’clock, we just ate a little and took the rest home. When I got ready to pay she said you can’t pay I have to take your payment, Which I did not understand because customers were going to the register and paying for the takeout orders. When she brought the receipt for me to sign she still never apologized about the service that we experience. If they knew they couldn’t satisfy their customers when they came in with qood service in a timely fashion they should have told us that it would be well over an hour before you will get your food and let us decide whether we wanted to wait or not. just a shame the way the waitress didn’t really care to apologize, or even bother seeing what was taking so long for our food. Very disappointed. With many options to choose from we chose George’s in Oxford but they just didn’t appreciate us supporting them.
