First time guests at The Swan Pangbourne! Worthy of its 5 Star Rating given.... Can't wait to return soon! The Swan in Pangbourne was the perfect restaurant for a 3 course luncheon with my darling hubby to celebrate our 31st Anniversary on December 27th, 2017. We couldn't have been happier with this place! Pre-booking months ahead; with a seating preference, ensured we were treated to a Romantic Fireplace and River-facing window table for 2. Once shown to our table and comfortably seated; our server brought a complimentary glass of champagne each to toast our special day! The delicious 3 courses followed each other; yet we were never rushed; a respectable gap was spaced between each. Dessert was delivered then followed up with a special surprise treat: the server delivered on a slate slab; 2 bonus scoops of ice- cream to accompany our dessert. We were grateful for a 2nd scoop each; as 1 just wasn't enough treat with our delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding. 2.1/2 hours on; it was time to face reality and leave this Romantic Restaurant. However, Not before pre booking a table for 2018 Christmas Lunch at a certain table up in the summer room this time. So as to be treated to uninterrupted views of the weir and river. In summery: 5 Star Service by friendly staff; with 5 Star Food; in a 5 Star establishment; with 5 Star River-views plus! Living nearby; we can't wait to return frequently. Even if it's just for a Dessert and a Baileys Coffee or for a Gin in their cosy sitting room in front of their toasty open log fireplace! Or for a meal alfresco style whilst watching the boats passing .

What a beautiful location and great to have vegan options on the menu! The vegan 'fish' and chips was delicious though I would swap the silken tofu for firm. The tofu was almost liquid inside the deep fried batter. Would definitely recommend this pub... Table service contributed to a very chilled, relaxing couple of hours..

Can't thank the staff and chef enough for making my Dads 80th birthday meal such a good one . From the moment we arrived everyone was attentive and very helpful. The food was delicious and hot and Ellie our waitress was happy to bring extra gravy , custard etc . We sat in the conservatory overlooking the river and it was delightful.

Fantastic setting coupled with very helpful and accommodating staff. For a just a drink by the river, spur of the moment brunch or a celebratory meal, have always found the swan a great place to be.

Found the venue by mistake whilst having a leisurely drive in the country and were pleasantly surprised. We had a very warm welcome from the manager and staff. They were very accommodating as we had our fur baby with us and she was spoilt with treats and “cat infused water” 💦 the menu had a good variety and the portions were large. We had a superb lunch, compliments to the Chef. The location is beautiful with a large patio area overlooking the river and we look forward to returning soon

Great riverside location. Only had fish and chips so can't comment too much on the food suffice to say it was decent. Unlike some of the other reviews, from bar staff to the waitresses the service was great. Once sat down outside with initial drinks, we were waited on promptly and food arrived quickly despite being busy.

Lovely old pub on banks of Thames at Pangbourne. Views across river, nice terrace when weather is good. Friendly staff, simple, but well cooked food. Not cheap, but paying for location. Car parking a squeeze, great for watching the comings and goings on the river.

We were in the area for the Easter Weekend and had heard of the Swan so decided to visit. It has an idyllic location on the Thames with a large terrace (nice for the summer months). The inside lives up to its 17th heritage with traditional oak beams and three open fires to keep you warm and cosy. We ate there on the Saturday night and Sunday lunch. Both meals very nice, especially the Sunday roast, cooked to perfection and the gravy was delicious. Service very good and friendly staff. It has a nice bar area with a good ale selection. If you mange to get a table overlooking the river, it adds to the whole dining experience, as we did. Highly recommended.

It is a tradition for us to visit the Swan Pangbourne every year when we visit from Australia. We love the outdoor setting by the river and the food is always very good too. We have thoroughly enjoyed all our visits to the Swan over the years and lunch on Sunday was no exception!!

One of the best pub I came across. Tucking into Sunday roast, friendly and professional staff making sure we're all good (including my dog )While listening to old school funk. It's an evening that I wouldn't forget hopefully for a long time.

We enjoyed the appetizers and entrees. The desserts were not as good. The perk of being able to moor here for the night was excellent. The service was kind and fast. Overall we really enjoyed The Swan.

The Swan pub in Pangbourne is a delightful Riverside gem located by the lock. With its friendly service and welcoming atmosphere, it's a must-visit. Don't miss the chance to explore their unique menu offerings beyond the usual pub menu. The divine Crab burger is a standout, and for dessert, their Eton mess or the gigantic sticky toffee pudding is a perfect way to conclude your dining experience.

Great location adjacent to the river with a nice outlook. Excellent helpful staff with very good service. Very comfortable interior with lots of seating. Lovely menu, I had the steak sandwich which came in a panini roll filled salad and onion rings and steak along with fries. My wife had the chicken club sandwich, both of these were very good and generous portions. Would definitely recommend.

Great location next to River. Lovely pub and we had a great roast dinner....quality was excellent and portion size was very generous. We would maybe order children's portion to fit in a dessert next time. Friendly and fast service. No garden but a small terrace overlooking river and weir. Limited parking so you have to pay to park at railway station. Dog firendly.

Our favourite local pub, The Swan has the friendliest, most welcoming staff, serves delicious meals with incredibly generous portions, all set right on the picturesque river. Highly recommend a visit, whether you’re just passing through or you’re a local! Our favourite meal is their cider-battered fish and chips!

As quoted by my partner, ‘this is the best club sandwich I’ve had…..it’s bangin’. We popped in after a walk around the nearby Beale wildlife park and attempted to sit outside. Although windy, the outdoor area is along the river and perfect for swallowing a load of beer and watching the world go by. The staff we friendly and attentive and this was followed by a decent sandwich. I would note that the car park is very small, but I’m not sure what they could do about it. They look like they are doing the best they can with the amount of tarmac available.
