Very friendly service and clean, modern decor. Tasty, reassuring food. The steak and ale pie contained delicious steak, and came with enough pastry and chips to sink a battleship (hint to chef - maybe ease off on the chips a bit?).

Went for a family meal this evening and it was the first time I've been since it has changed hands and re opened. The staff are lovely incredibly friendly and the lady whom I assume was the manageress was incredibly personable and even gave us a heads up it had started to rain as we were leaving. The food was good with generous portions. It is a tiny bit less fancy then the when it was the White Hart but better value and less faffing around then you used to have to do with the separate bowls. It is however no less tasty and on Sunday a three course meal for £20 is good value. We only went for 2 course and I honestly don't think I could of managed a third. Beer is a little pricey but not obscene. The pub appears to be dog friendly which is always nice and it's these little things that make a more welcoming atmosphere. I will be going back. If I were to be critical of anything I don't like sauces in little sachets but that is a personal thing and has no bearing on the venue. Worth 5 stars for value and portion size and staff

We didn’t know the area and traveled from Warwick so wanted somewhere close to the M1 to stop on our way home. We tried the website but it didn’t exist so we’re a little dubious as to what we’d find but I’m happy to say that (on a Sunday) they served food all day (a lot in the area stopped at 3pm) and we all enjoyed our meals. We ordered the roast dinners and burgers (including vegan burger). There were two vegan options on the menu, the vegan burger and a nut roast. It would have been nice to have had a couple more options but what we ordered was nice. I’m more of a cosy country pub/real fire type person and whilst this was not that, it was very nice. Modern, stylish and friendly, reasonably priced and the food well presented 😊

Came to Penistone as a surprise trip planned by my now fiance and after a quick search of where to eat we settled on eating at the New Inn! The place really did not disappoint at all, the staff and manager were absolutely lovely and the food was fantastic! The portions for the prices are brilliant we shall definitely be returning in the future, thank you for a lovely meal :)

Fantastic place for a meal. I went with my family, we had roast dinner and it was fabulous. They cater very well for Gluten Free options, including Yorkshire puddings and gravy, which most places do not do. We called and spoke to Jay, the day before we went to check how they support Coeliac requirements, and he couldn't do enough for us. He promised us that we were in for a treat and we were very impressed. Lovely building, friendly, helpful staff, awesome food. Mostly on ground level, with a mezzanine level with more seating for another few tables up some stairs. Car park right out back, wide, accessible entrance, dog water bowl at entrance and dogs are allowed inside. The first photo and video clip, is the non GF plate. The only difference was that instead of 1 huge Yorkshire Pud, my son got 4 smaller GF ones. See pic, the meat is piled up under the Yorkshire Pud, we also had a large dish of Cauliflower and Broccoli cheese on the table, for us to help ourselves, though unfirtunately the cherse sauce was not Gluten Free but they did offer too bring more plain cauliflower and brocolli. Definitely recommend a visit if you are in the Penistone area.

Nice to pop into a place and be pleasantly surprised at how amazing it was. Only went in for a drink but it was served by a knowledgeable bartender, the place was neat, tidy, fresh and clean and the clientele were of an equally high standard. We'll definitely be back. UPDATE: Ate here for the first time on Sunday and it wont be the last. Nothing to complain about as all of our meals were spot on. Top marks all round.

We were greeted with a warm yorkshire welcome. Modern decor comfy seating. The landlord explained how it all worked. Gave me a separate menu for allergies. Not a lot of choice for soya free. That is normal as so many things contain flour. I chose garlic mushrooms in a sauce and garlic sourdough pizza. Very nice. My husband at steak pie. It was huge with chips and mushy peas. Yorkshire size portions! The toilets were very high standard. It was a relaxing warm experience. Will visit again.

Very nice inside and out and the food was superb without being expensive. Visited on a Friday lunchtime. Will most definitely return for another lunch or even an evening meal. Very nice outdoor seating area as well for a warm sunny day.

We were looking for a venue to host 12 adults and 6 children for a long-overdue reunion, and called The New Inn at short notice to see if they had space. The Assistant Manager Jay was excellent - so friendly, supportive and incredibly helpful. He set up and reserved the mezzanine which meant we had our own space to move around and chat, and also had space for the children to play and there were no worries about disturbing other diners. The food was excellent, there was a varied menu and the entire afternoon was brilliant. Thoroughly recommend!

Been with a friend today for Sunday lunch. Absolutely gorgeous food and plentiful which was value for money and quality food. The vegetables and meat were gorgeous and the yorkshire puddings were best I've ever had. Staff were all young and very polite and attentive. I'll be back again for sure. Thank yoh

This inn is a really great asset to Penistone. They catered the wake after my brother's funeral and it was absolutely faultless. The room was tastefully and elegantly decorated, making it suitable for any occasion; the tables, chairs, and table linen completed the look, being of excellent quality. The food at the buffet was marvellous and had been laid out in such a way as to appeal to the stomach and the eye. As a vegetarian I was happy that there was a choice of food for me and my meat eating OH said the pork pie was the best he'd ever tasted and believe me, he's tasted a lot. There was a bar in the room which was great for those who wanted cold drinks and there was tea and coffee in abundance for the rest of us. Service was excellent and unobtrusive, and I was fascinated to notice that however many people took food from the buffet it remained stylishly set out. That's attention to detail! Highly recommended and worthy of more stars but they only let me give 5/5.
