We will be back.... we won a voucher that The Shepards Inn kindly donated to Locals raising for Children in Need (generous amount) that paid off from a business point of view as we popped in whilst in the area.
Sunday Roasts Sirlion beef and Chicken breast & haggis š½
the gravy/sauce was worth going for on its own but that beef was the best I've ever had on a roast. Melt in the mouth
Chicken breast was sooo tender and tasty. Crisp and tasty veg and huge Yorkshire Pud
Squeezed in Pudding but had to share (2spoons)...
We will be back with whole the family for future celebrations and the Christmas menu
Lovely service and warm fire cosy feeling.
See you soon x
Great village old pub. Friendly staff and locals. Food great and good selection of beer. Highly recommended
We had a fabulous meal. Reuben had the lasagne and said it was lovely. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. We stayed outside to let him play until the meal was ready and they came to get us. Couldn't fault it x
Best fish and chips I have ever had, and I've had a lot ;-) all the meals were perfect including the steak and ale pie. Top marks 5*
Never have had a bad meal! Found this place quite by accident, but now love going there for the excellent food!!
Lovely friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Looking forward to our next visit, Iāll definitely be having fish and chips again.
Really amazing food and service. I would recommend to everyone!!
We visited the inn yesterday, my husband had the bbq ribs, ate it all thought it was wonderful, very succulent and tender. I had beef and ale pie it was wonderful, lots of it. All the staff friendly and polite. We hope to return again next year. Thank you.
Excellent Sunday lunch very attentive staff with extra helping of roast potatoes and gravy v
Many plus points about this place, clean, great location, friendly professional staff, duty manager Jill was so friendly and helpful whilst Teigen was so professional and an absolute credit to to the establishment.
Where it fell down was making guests book in themselves via a screen takes away the personal touch you look for in a hotel. Secondly as breakfast has to be ordered at the till it should be cooked to order. It was quite clear that everything I'd bulk cooked and kept on hot plates. This meat most of the food was tepid not hot.
Beautiful location, Lovely food all cook fresh, Staff very helpful and friendly would to friends .
Lovely pub in a beautiful village. Opposite the village green with outside seating and a small play area for children. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. We ate our evening meal in the pub and it was delicious. Breakfast was excellent- good quality bacon and sausage. I can highly recommend it.
Lovely roadside inn with gluten free beer on tap and really helpful staff. We turned up on spec and although they were fully booked for later, they managed to squeeze us in.
My coeliac husband was delighted to find that they had gluten free ales on a hand-pump and the food portions were very generous with well-cooked, fresh vegetables. My daughter's only complaint was that her 'small plate' was too big for her to manage!
I would recommend booking ahead and going with the small plates option if your appetite isn't large.
Had a lovely roast dinner here. Large portions and very cheap. Only draw back was the roast potatoes. They were not cut into halfs or quarters, just full potatoes left to roast. Middle was very bland and dry. Shame as the rest of the meal was amazing
Consistently brilliant āļø
Fabulous food, great staff - couldnāt ask for more. We are regulars and keep coming back because the food and service is just great. Best cheesecake ever!!
You have to try the whale and chips. The batter was so crispy, fish very tasty, hand cut chips, mushy peas what more would you want.
Lovely fire helpful staff extremely comfortable and enjoyable lunch time meeting with friends.
Get there early, quickly filled up with customers!
Located just outside of Penrith, this pub has a good menu, great food (watch out for the Wathby Whale!) and lovely people running and serving in it. What more can I say? Oh yes! The ambience is relaxing and car parking pretty good! Highly recommended!
What a great bar on the green and friendly service. We sat ourselves down outside in the dark and had a few pints. It was brilliant. We never saw the rooms but wouldn't doubt they'd be superb. If this is typical village pub then village life is good outside Penrith. Thanks for having us and see you next year.
Very welcoming staff and epic, hearty food. We love this pub as a lunch stop between Corbridge and Manchester.
Good food and brilliant place to have a drink outside in the summer. Food not the cheapest but it is good.
The hotel is in a lovely setting by the village green in Langwathby. There is a lovely, friendly atmosphere in the hotel and we were made to feel very welcome. We stayed there to break up the journey going to a from a holiday in Scotland, but given the location we'd easily stay there again as a base for exploring the local area. The restaurant served really nice food and you could tell by the number of locals in each night we stayed that it is a very popular place. Definitely recommended.
Only used the restaurant. Food and service were excellent. Well priced as well.
Lovely friendly and cosy pub with great food. A very nice stop off on the way across to Northumberland from Preston. Good facilities too, canāt comment on the rooms as we stopped for food only.
Stopped for dinner after a day exploring Eden. Great location near a number of sites.
Delicious food with plenty of choices. The option for smaller portions for adults was a bonus for our group.
Bar and restaurants pristine and decor looked new.
Easy to park, lovely warm welcome, totally accessible (a family member with walking limitations)- just mind your head on the beams. Thereās a play area and at the front of pub too.
Highly recommended āļø
A gorgeous little inn with good food, comfy rooms and wonderful service!
We booked last minute on the day as a spontaneous trip to the Lakes, to climb Helvellyn the next day, and thankfully we got the last available room. We told the lady who checked us in (I sadly didnāt get her name) that we were leaving very early in the morning to catch the sunrise, so would miss breakfast. She immediately went to talk to the chef and arranged for some plates of food and bottles of orange juice to be made up for us and left in a fridge for us to grab as we left! We were so grateful for such kind and hospitable service, and the food was a great help before the hike.
There was plenty of parking available, and you can book to eat in the restaurant which serves tasty pub classics.
The room itself was very comfortable, cosy and perfect for what we needed. Only slight downside was the green emergency exit light in our room, as it was incredibly bright and located directly above the bed.
We definitely recommend staying at the Shepherds Inn!
Fantastic lunch here - the "mini whale" was absolutely delicious! Lovely pub, staff were excellent - attentive and polite. Very well priced given the standard of food we enjoyed. Highly recommended.
