The most beautiful and magical plant nursery. So much to see and explore. A wide variety of beautiful, healthy plants and so many garden ornaments, plant pots and sculptures. It is lovely to visit just to explore, for inspiration or to stock up your garden with wonders!
Food at the restaurant may seem expensive but is well worth the cost. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
We will definitely be returning with friends and family for another visit!
A fantastic independent nursery and well worth a visit if you're near by. It can get busy, so make sure to check how busy it is in Google Maps.
There is plenty of parking, but it is at the end of a dead end country road, so there may be a small queue.
There is a huge selection of plants, shrubs, trees roses ferns, grasses, Acer's and plenty more. Lots of garden ornaments too, so do make sure to stop in. The place keeps going and going and such a relaxing environment.
Also a good shop for interior design and art bits
Beautiful place to visit, fabulous restaurant for lunch, lovely wine and homemade food. Or coffee and delicious cakes. There's nowhere like the veranda, draped with wisteria looking over gorgeous gardens. Amazing selection of plants for sale and planted in extensive and lovely gardens, divided by stone walls that look like they belong to an abandoned mediaeval monastery. A wonderful gift shop, art and craft gallery and an amazing selection of statuary.
We came last year and enjoyed looking around so we came back this year. We then stopped for lunch again in the cafe. Delicious soup and tasty bread to warm us on a cold day. Lost count of all the frogs in the pond. You could hear them all croaking. 🐸
Lovely food and an amazing selection of plants, including these gorgeous magnolias.
The gardners are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Such excellent quality of plants with very unusual options to mainstream garden centres.
The garden areas are such a pleasure to look around even if not searching for anything in particular.
Then there is the cafe with very tasty coffee and a brilliant choice of homemade sweet treats which were again not the usual run of the mill types. Will definitely be back, very soon with the family 😊
I first visited this garden centre about 7 years ago when visiting the area. I have been holidaying in the area again and decided to visit. I was not disappointed. There's the most wonderful range of plants, shrubs, trees and garden ornaments all set in a background of beautifully planted borders. Something for every keen gardener. The gardens gave a very tranquil feel about them. There's also a cafe/restaurant and an interiors shop. I would highly recommend a wander around here.
A spectacular nursery set in lovely scenery near Penrith. I've never seen so many huge pots, planters and statues and the selection of shrubs and trees was impressive and excellent quality. There was loads of autumn colour especially the Acers. The cafe was delightful, enjoyed petting Misty the cat. Had soup and one of the nicest cappuccinos ever.
Huge selection of plants and trees as well as a great selection of garden furniture... Probably the biggest nursery we've been to.
We had lunch here which was well priced, very tasty and speedy surface. The resident cat was a nice touch too 🙂
Visited mainly for a trip to the cafe for coffee and cake so can only comment on that. Service was friendly and prompt and the cakes were delicious. Not a great range but lovely and there was a gluten free option too. Cafe was rustic with a lovely room upstairs with views across the centre.
Lovely service in the café - looking out at the rain on the beautiful pond. Top quality plants - amazing choices and some great perennials for shade. The astrantia I bought was ready for division - so excellent value - and all the other plants were very healthy.
The member of staff on the till was very friendly too.
Fabulous garden centre and restaurant. A little oasis of Northern Italy in rural Westmorland. Just beautiful!
Food and service were great too and the planteria had a very wide selection of plants.
Beautiful site, and very extensive range of plants. Not cut price, but excellent quality. Great restaurant as well.
Fantastic selection of plants, trees and shrubs. Never seen as many fabulous statues for sale in one place. Excellent tea room/ restaurant as well. Well worth seeking out a visit.
This is a hidden gem just off the A66 close to Penrith. The gardens are quirky with lots of interesting features and the plants are great value. The cafe has a good selection of food at reasonable prices and the staff are friendly. Finally, the gift shop is fantastic with a very unusual range of items for sale. Well worth a visit.
This place is a total vibe, especially the Italian inspired restaurant La Casa Verde, where I tried a divine brocoli and gruyere soup with sourdough. The garlic mushrooms with goats cheese on sourdough was also incredible. I only tried one mushroom as it was not from my plate but it was the best thing I have ever put it in my mouth.
A most wonderful place to visit.
We discovered Larch Cottage Nurseries some years ago and visit everytime we visit the area.
It's peaceful and fully stocked with quality plants accompanied by a fabulous shop full of amazing and beautiful gifts and an inviting veranda where you can sit and enjoy coffee and cake. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Highly recommended.
Nigel and Jenny, Old Dalby, Leicestershire.
A great find courtesy of the book the extra mile.
For a place in the middle of nowhere and on a dead end road on arriving it was a welcome change from the stops we have used in the past. Get the impression it's a locals garden centre and being set out in an Italian style it would be a treasure to have have on your doorstep.
Cafe was open on our visit offering a limited "covid" menu. It had a nice seating area outside with 3 bantam chickens cleaning up any spare crumbs.
No four legged friends allowed here I am afraid but due to the layout out and wildlife you can understand why.
Not sure how previous people have become lost in the one way system that operates here just follow the paths.
