Review Rising Sun - Pensford

Beautiful beer garden 😍 Although we didn't eat from what we saw food looked very good 😋 Service was warm and friendly 🤩

Nice pub with good Sunday roast. Seems to be family run. Was seated at the front of the pub which was basic but comfortable, and nice with an open fire, though the staff's repeated attempts to keep it going/relight it did amuse us. Service was alright. I have to say what stood out by a mile was the food. I ordered the pork belly roast, and my partner ordered the rare beef roast, and we shared the greens/cauliflower cheese side, and herb stuffing balls. The portion sizes are huge, but absolutely delicious! You had better come with an appetite! Afterwards we walked through the garden and did a circular walk around the viaduct. Definitely would visit again.

Only stopped for a quick drink, but service was good and welcoming. Sat outside and enjoyed the view of the viaduct and the sound of the wier. Will definitely return to sample the food which looked really good.

Lovely place, with a great garden and beautiful view of the viaduct. It was drizzling when we visited, but overall it was still very enjoyable and cosy under the tent.

Lovely visit here with the family and two dogs. Warm friendly welcome with water for the dogs. I had the chicken in white sauce which was delicious, our 3 year old had sausage, chips and peas which he loved. Great family friendly pub and nearby dog walks in beautiful setting.

Everything you want in a village pub & more. Whilst out for a walk we popped in for a drink. They were so friendly & the menu sounded so good we booked for dinner. Some of the friendliest & best service we’ve had the pleasure of anywhere & the food was excellent. Pie night is a real winner, exceptional food & wonderful service.

Lovely little pub in an idyllic location. Perfect stop after a walk below the viaduct and beyond, particularly coming out of the rain. Very impressed with the food - we had the small plates and they turned out to be a delicious selection. Owner and staff very friendly too, will be going back.

Popped in with the family for a spot of lunch after a friend recommended it to us and boy, we weren't disappointed !!!. Food was exceptional, served by excellent waiting staff and Bar staff and if I had to rate it out of 10 I would give it 100/10. Seriously can't express enough how brilliant it was........would highly recommend this beautiful pub to absolutely everyone!!. We will definitely be back.

Been here a couple of times lately and the food, setting and staff are all 5 stars. I had the Sunday roast pork (they rear their own pigs) and it was so tender and flavoursome with a ginormous homemade Yorkshire. I also had the steak and it was so tender. Pensfold is a beautiful hidden gem once you come away from the main road and the Rising Sun just make it that little bit lovelier.

Popped into the Rising Sun for a bit of lunch today with hubby.....delicious! Could not fault the beef and ale stew with garlic mash. Definitely recommend.

Love the Rising Sun! We moved to Pensford a couple of months ago having been frequenting this pub for almost a year before we moved. We are very fortunate indeed to have such a fantastic pub in the village. Amazing food, great drinks and a friendly, helpful and welcoming staff!

It was my Stag day and my best man had arranged for a dozen of to visit the Pub. We were made to feel very welcome had a few drinks and ordered food which we had upstairs. The food was of a really high standard and really enjoyable. We spent several hours having a great time. We returned a about 2 or so hours later and it buzzing but we were made very welcome again 👍😁

Treated Mum and ourselves to lunch today. Mother's Day, so was busy, but still, a welcoming, happy atmosphere and great service greeted us. The children had a good and filling portion of the kid's home made chicken nuggets, fries and peas. Two adults had the roast beef and one roast pork. A very beautifully presented hearty meal of perfectly cooked meat and veg. The roast potatoes were crispy and the crackling delicious! The desserts were a hit too!

I have been there twice, the second for my daughter's wedding reception and I have to say the pub and level of customer service was outstanding, the best buffet I have ever eaten!
