Loved the food at the Alverne. Great choices on the menu and also a decent selection of daily specials. The quality of the food was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed my red mullet starter and my main of chicken supreme. Service was very prompt and friendly. The manager very kindly turned off the music beside our table to make it easier to chat. If in Penzance would recommend Alverne.

What a gem. Very unassuming from the outside but lovely inside and well laid out. Although not booked , we were found a table for two. It majors in fish but has a fair number of alternatives. The chicken supreme I had was delicious in a Madeira jus. My wife had hake in a coconut and chilli sauce. She cannot praise it enough. Staff , decor and menu was lovely. Top class dining.

This place. Wow. Amazing food. Amazing dessert. A hidden gem in Penzance. Everything was right. Only downside were some rowdy guests. But the food left me smiling.

Nice restaurant in the middle of Penzance. Good menu with specials daily and well executed. A little dark but I imagine a cool haven on a hot day. Visited on a weekday lunchtime - not much atmosphere but lovely food you can't fault.

5/5 Overall 5/5 for service: welcoming and friendly. Let us order some drinks and check on the menu while we wait. 5/5 for food: great combinations for meat and vegetables, on the dishes. Great decorations to. Coffee was not bad. Highly recommend the cod. 4/5 for ambience and cleanness. But the organisation here can be improved. The bar and the back kitchen’s position might be the reason why staffs getting too busy. Good restaurant.

A lovely menu with plenty of vegan and vegetarian dishes alongside a wide variety of meat and fish dishes. The main course had a tapas or standard option with plenty of starters and desserts to choose from. All the dishes were well presented with a great flavour combination. The waiter/waitresses were polite, accommodating and attentive and gave guests privacy and space The dining area and bathroom were extremely clean which added to the relaxing dining experience. The passion fruit martini wasn't overly sweet and didn't have a bitter alcoholic taste. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family, if they decided to travel to cornwall.

I was pleasantly surprised. The food was done meticulously well. Both the Hake and Pork dishes were excellent and filling. The Apple sundae was so so soooo good. Priced slightly higher than a pub, but well worth the visit.

Friendly and welcoming. Tucked away in Penzance. Prices slightly high for the region but acceptable as food was superb. Pint of German beer was nice. Very strong! Olives and humus to start. Olives were huge, great flavours. Houmous was delightful. Not sure if fresh made or out the usual pot but was light and tasty. Main meals and sweets were sublime. And service excellent
