Sumeshiya Japanese Restaurant

I was here to celebrate a friend's birthday. I ordered tuna don while we had salmon rolls, grilled squid (ikayaki) and large sashimi to share while the rest ordered beef tepanyakki. I would like to love my tuna don but from tasting the tuna from sashimi I had a rough idea what my tuna don was going to taste like. The taste was mediocre.The same goes for the beef teppanyaki. It was quite salty and tasted pretty standard. On the flip side, the kingfish, salmon and scallop in the sashimi tasted delicious. We also loved the salmon roll and the grilled squid. Service was very good. Quick, friendly and accomodating.

I’ve been here a few years ago and quite enjoyed it but this time round, I was quite disappointed. Although the place is small, it’s atmosphere for dining isn’t too bad. Food overall was average, not the very authentic Japanese flavours but still taste good. Chicken karage was nice but a bit over done, colour too dark from deep frying. The chicken Teppanyaki was an absolute disappointment… you pay for a main dish price but gets only tiny portion of chicken on the plate (see photo) which is absolutely ridiculous considering chicken aren’t that expensive to buy. The sauce for it was also super salty. Not sure if I’d return again.

I only reserve 5 stars for placed that I believe go over and above. Where this place excels is the service and good provided at a very reasonable price. My wife is Japanese so we kind of get drawn to Japanese restaurants and this has to be a favourite of ours in Perth. We were introduced to the place by friends who live nearby.

You're probably better off getting takeaway. The food is nice but the wait isn't - if you order multiple dishes don't expect them to come out on time and if you're in a group, the first person will well and truly be done with their meal before the last even receives theirs. Dining in is not worth the frustration

Went here for a lunch after our usual place was full so we chanced upon this place, service was prompt and friendly, place was very nicely decorated and welcoming the menu had a wide range of sushimi,sushi rolls Bento and ramen to choose from so your pretty spoilt for choice. We went for a safe choice of teriyaki beef and pork katsu curry both dishes very flavourful and enough to fill out bellies, prices are average our dishes where around the $14-$16 range so pretty good value and wouldn't hesitate to come back.
