Kukan Izakaya

Really pleasant casual dining experience - we went for date night and it was a nice atmosphere for an easy going night. Sake was great alongside our many dishes - favs were eggplant and sashimi dishes! Parking is now free for an hour at the cpp next door I believe? Otherwise pretty convenient access. Staff are super lovely and dinner was $$ affordable.

Fresh and well cut sashimi, exotic selection of taste. Some things are not just great like the scallop but I think it's just because it didn't suit our palates. Otherwise, the beef tataki was excellent, cooked perfectly, interesting take on the octopus slices. They had ootoro sashimi at the time with good price for 50$ per 5 slices (pretty thick), though not the ootoro that I expected which I thought would melt right away on my tongue, these onese tasted like really soft and fatty tuna sashimi. Still good. Just not the ootoro I wanted. Otherwise, good service, love the atmosphere, in house sake is actually not bad, I can say this as we actually don't like sake. But theirs wasn't too bad at all. Will come here again for sure in the future

Been here a few times and always had a very pleasant & satisfying dining experience. Food is amazingly tasty (plenty of options for vegetarians too!), place is cozy, great variety of sake, and top notch service!! Had the privilege of sitting on the teppan bar, very recommended! Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in Perth!

We had a beautiful meal at Kukan Izakaya. From the truffle edamame right through to the miso ice cream the food was superb, and the saké amazingly good. . Strongly recommend the sharing plates when there’s a group of you. Part of the pleasure is talking about the wonderful dishes that everyone is eating. It is a modest little restaurant but the food is way beyond expectations. Thank you for a lovely evening.
