We have visited this café on several occasions for breakfast, lunch and evening drinks- and it has never failed to impress. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive, nothing is too much to ask and they are always keen to recommend a good cake! The atmosphere in the day is always cosy and welcoming and the table service creates a smart ambiance. The food is excellent. We have had everything from poached eggs with smoked salmon to sandwiches to nachos and nibbles. The sandwiches come with a healthy portion of salad and crisps making it a full meal and the breakfast menu is fantastic. The cakes are also to die for and made fresh in house. Evenings at the Lightbox never fail to disappoint. Their cocktail menu, with a very tempting 2-4-1 offer at select times, means is impossible to say no to especially with the huge selection of gin they have to offer. The music and entertainment in the evenings is always fantastic- there is nothing else like it in Peterborough. Overall this is a fantastic place, our favourite in Peterborough and would 100% recommend!

I took my mother and father here today for a father’s day brunch. The staff were very welcoming, polite and friendly. My mother and I ordered a pot of tea for two and we were given a huge pot of tea which was brilliant as in most places you get a very small pot. My father had an americano which he said was lovely, and we all really enjoyed the biscuits that came with the hot drinks. We ordered two sandwiches and a toastie, all of which came with coleslaw, a small salad and some crisps. We all really enjoyed our food, and it was noticeable that good quality ingredients were used (thick ham and bacon, good quality cheeses), not to mention the portion size being very generous and each sandwich having plenty of fillings. You definitely get good value for money here; I think I paid around £27 for 3 meals and our drinks. This, coupled with the excellent service we received, makes the Lightbox a lovely addition to Peterborough’s city centre.

By far the most tasteful and relaxing decor for a cafe bar in and around Peterborough. Took my Mum for a toasted sandwich which she declared the best she had ever tasted (the sides of coleslaw, salad and crisps make it a meal!). Cheese scones are rather scrummy too! The cakes look divine (Mother polished off a large slice of coffee & walnut). It's all the extras that make this place a much needed asset for Peterborough (homemade shortbread with your cuppa, the friendly staff, cosy, comfortable decor) and that's just the daytime! A joy to attend in the evening as well! Well done Lightbox!

We booked in for a full afternoon tea. It was really busy with a lovely atmosphere, the staff were great. The afternoon tea was fantastic with large portions of gorgeous cake and clotted cream to go with the scones. Will definitely return to The Lightbox.

Pretty ambience. Workstations with charging points. Courteous service. My Flat White was not the way I like, but taste is subjective as we know. Worth visiting.

Amazing little place for lunch! They were so accommodating and happy to be very flexibility with the food. We had the 'little tea' which was very reasonable and tasty to boot! All the food was homemade and very delicious. In particular the homemade shortbread cookies that come complimentary with a hot drink! They looked and tasted flawless! Wonderful baker and fantastic hospitality. Will definitely revisit when in the area.

Lovely late lunch. Delicious cup of coffee too. They very kindly made an omelette for me, despite it being 3 o'clock in the afternoon and not on the menu. Husband enjoyed his bacon sandwich. Really friendly staff

Lovely freshly made sandwiches with a little bit of side salad. Great alternative to all the prepacked rubbish available across Peterborough City centre in the chain coffee shops. Excellent service, family run, friendly. Very clean and well spaced out.

Stopped for Saturday brunch and it was busy, so was informed of a 20 minute wait. I had no problem with this. The staff were friendly and the service was good. Having never been to this cafe, I wasn't sure on the ordering process and whether we had to wait to be seated. What didn't help was a lack of menu's on the table. Once we got over the initial confusion and worked out what to order, our food and drink came and it was exactly what we expected. The food was very nice but I was disappointed with the side salad. The lettuce was brown and should have been thrown away, so feel the chef could have shown a bit more attention to detail. That said, the overall experience was good and I will be back again.

Went there for the comedy night. Great show only £10 each including the first drink. (You don't need a ticket during the day). Four acts and a hilarious compare. A really good night out. Friendly staff makes a difference too. Daytime it is a great independent coffee shop with tasty cakes and lunches. Good to see a local non chain eatery prosper.
