A lovely pub, surrounded by beautiful locations for walking or hiking, and it's near Petersfield market town, which has all the shops you need and a lovely market. The food was amazing, homemade with local produce and lovely staff.
We had a Sunday lunch there, and it was very tasty and plentiful. Great prices and very clean and well presented. It's definitely worth a visit or two or three 🙏😀 They cater for gluten-free also and other dietary restrictions.
Dropped in here for lunch with some friends whilst staying nearby. The staff were super friendly and helpful with any of our questions, and they were more than happy to accommodate our requests for a high chair plus extra stuff to feed the baby of the group. Some great beer choices including alcohol-free options, and an excellent range of choices for lunch. Our lunch was so good that none of us could resist going on for dessert too (also delicious!). Definitely swing by if you're in the area!
Good beers, good menu, try the Peppers on the snack board you won't regret it. They go so well with a pint of Perridge.
Good relaxed atmosphere, very well decorated just that bit different. Sunday roasts for you to carve at the table - got to be tried on my next visit.
We were walking in the hills, I slipped and cut my hand quite seriously...lots of blood but no permanent damage. Descended to the pub and asked for assistance and was attended to by a barman who also happened to be a paramedic. All good. I then had a superb vegan open sandwich and good chops (for a pub). Exceptionally pleasurable experience. Go there, please!
The best pub in the south of England! Great location, staff, food and accommodation. We were lucky enough to spend two nights here. The rooms are large and airy, with luxury bedding and large comfy beds. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our meals on both nights were outstanding (and Coeliac friendly!) thanks to Head Chef Tom (who is Michelin trained). This is a great pub to base yourself to explore Hampshire in the south of England. There is so much to do around here and it's so picturesque. Wineries, golf courses, Historical pubs, villages, and close to Southampton and Portsmouth if you're into naval history. Put the Cricketers Inn at Steep on your to do list but book early as both food and accommodation book out quickly!
Visited today for Father’s Day. Really beautiful interior! The food was lovely & fresh and the service was great. Really attentive making sure we always had what we needed & that we were happy! Highly recommend. Will definitely be back & this will now be our go to place for a great Sunday roast!
This is an update to an old review from 9 years ago.
Visited the Cricketers last week for the first time in years, since new ownership.
Had a very nice couple of drinks... The pub has been really nicely refurbished, clean smart and modern but still with a very pubby feel.
Excellent selection of beers, Ciders, gins etc.
Very friendly and polite bar staff.
We didn't eat but the menu looks fab so we will definitely be back!!
Nice sunny garden and dog friendly too.
Me and my wife visited the pub last night for the first time after hearing good reviews. We were not disappointed the food was excellent and the staff very friendly. We will be visiting again highly recommended!
Stumbled upon this pub on a motorcycle ride. Only stopped for a coke but found they had homemade pork scratchings, and very nice too! Will plan to go back and spend some time there over some beer.
Such a cute, comfortable and friendly bed & breakfast. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating to all our dietary needs. Highly recommend
