We visited The Stag Inn on a busy Easter bank holiday Monday. Our meals were consistently delicious despite what must have been a hectic service for the kitchen. The service was excellent if a little slow, which is perhaps to be expected on a bank holiday weekend. We didn't mind however because we enjoyed chatting inbetween courses. It also meant that we had room for desserts!
Between the five of us we had different starters which we all agreed were of a high standard. Three of us had the burgers, one had the chicken pie and I had the caramelized onion and goat's cheese tarts. All were delicious. Only two of us had dessert. The sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble were likewise delicious. Presentation was of a high standard without being too pretentious. The food in my opinion represents good value for money.
The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for- a relaxed environment that was family and dog friendly.
The new management are extremely welcoming and friendly whilst also being professional. I am sure that they will be very successful and we will definitely be returning as soon as possible. I have already chosen what I will be eating! I would strongly recommend a visit.
Proper country pub with great food and beer. I'll be back.
Go for a walk at Ebernoe Common while you're in the area!
Probably the Best pub in a 20 mile radius of kirdford. I'm not a drinker but pop in a couple of times a year for a shandy, but I've heard nothing but praise for this pub. Locals love it, the food is supposed to be brilliant, the atmosphere great, and certain events attract huge crowds and support..... Staff a awesome too...
We were a large group visiting The Stag Inn but were served quickly and efficiently. Staff all very friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent quantity and quality all served with a smile ☺
I have recently been for supper with a large group of friends at The Stag. A warm welcome, efficient service and delicious food awaited us. We will be back soon with larger appetites and can’t wait!
What a superb unspoilt pub just a couple of miles from the Petworth Road.
Village pubs are closing at an alarming rate, however The Stag Inn has survived and appears to be very well supported by locals.
We visited on a Monday evening and the pub was busy. The landlord was very friendly, (as were the other customers) and his beers were in absolutely perfect condition.
Although this is a 40 mile round trip for us, we've already planned to return at the weekend
I've stumbled upon this place twice now and it is yet to disappoint! Super quaint, lovely location with a really nice/quiet garden to the back along with its much more buzzy front area. Small low beam wooden vibe inside and fantastic staff to boot! The (who i think is) owner/manager is really lovely - special shout out :)
The service is so friendly and welcoming. Lovely little village pub with good food, always, reasonably priced.
Perfect village pub. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Best pork scratchings I’ve had!
Great pub ...delicious and well presented food. Staff very friendly
Some friends & I had a lovely lunch here after visiting Petworth Park. Great food, genuinely wonderful friendly service. Will visit again.
Beautiful traditional country pub, called in on the off chance on a busy Saturday lunchtime, very friendly welcome, could only have sandwiches as we hadn't booked but that wasn't a problem as they were absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back and definitely book next time
Good food. Lovely garden with friendly service. Good place for us the Couples that lunch will come again
Highly recommended visit. Friendly staff. Lovely pub location loved the greenery and flowers surrounding. The food was value for money and also delicious. Definitely be back 👍❤
A lovely pub, very friendly and attentive staff and great food.
Sunday Lunch at the Stag Inn is always fantastic.
Mother's Day, so expected it to feel really busy..but no excellent service and the food was fantastic.
Roast Beef cooked perfectly plenty of fresh vegetables.
Followed by pear tartin home made it was sublime.
Would highly recommend
The owners are wonderful, the pub is cosy, nothing is to much trouble, the food and atmosphere are great! A real little gem in the beautiful countryside. Make sure you visit, an old fashioned pub that luckily still is thriving! We have never had a bad meal here in our past four years of visiting. Lovely crackling fires in winter time also!
A Good Find
Brilliant find ! I needed a pub to meet with friends but we all live in different directions - Chichester, Guildford and Leatherhead, on searching for a good location I found The Stag Inn. On arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming, in this traditional old style village pub. Service was excellent and the food was of good quality and very reasonably priced. We chose the prawn and avocado sandwich which came with salad and good quality homemade chips - all for £10.
If you need a good friendly pub which is a little off the beat and track then try this one, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
Excellent find! Beautiful family run old pub (apart from the toilets which should be avoided!). Food was fantastic, best creme brulee ever and warm, friendly service. Highly recommended and deserving of 5 stars.
We had a fantastic time at the Stag Inn! People were fun, we made new friends and laughed a lot. We lamented the passing of the Queen and toasted “Long live the King!”Having dogs with us paved the way as everyone here loved dogs. The wine and beer were great as well. We were too early for dinner, but I’m imagining that it would have been wonderful as well.
