Booked last minute as me and my partner both had work the the area , the landlord ome was extremely helpful. The pub itself was great , food ,service and atmosphere all great, (and nod to Martin in the morning for the superb breakfast) . The room was very comfy , is dated bit dusty but that's what a classic pub is ! Brilliant.

I fell in love for the style of this pub, looks like it hasn’t changed in centuries. Food was good, but I reccomend the staff to check their toilets: it was missing toilet paper and most important soap at the lavatory. I’d vote 3.5 if I could.

Nice old building. Good choice of drinks and decent coffee. Basic menu not much choice. All in all worth a visit

Ok. Food took ages to arrive, the pub was chilly inside and our food was served on cold plates 😱 BUT I would definitely go back. Why? Staff were super polite and friendly, and the nosh was delicious. If they could turn up the thermostat, heat the plates and get a jiggy on with the service it would be a five star review. I’m looking forward to returning. Recommended.

Had a good Sunday lunch here. It was a shame that the only vegetarian option was off but the improvised alternative was fine for us. Good beer too.

I have driven past this pub so many times and went in recently for the first time. I was very happy with the food I had and the service too. I will definitely go again!

Very tasty meal and excellent presentation, very good attention from the waitress. One little issue, the plates could have been heated before serving the food, as the meal was only just warm enough. Delicious, though. Be aware that 10% service charge is automatically added to the bill.

Food was superb, recommend the chicken parmigiana, very tasty. Missus had cod and chips, good size portion. Well priced, really nice enclosed garden to the rear, very nice on a sunny day like today. Oh yes… dog friendly 🐶

A warm welcome from the staff for a pre-Christmas family meal last week, nice surroundings with historic photos of Petworth and a log fire burning, the food was delicious especially my halloumi burger.

Lovely 17th century rooms where everything is slanted and massive woodern beams everywhere which definitely transports you back in time, we had a cute cubby hole library in our room which was loved by all. Food was very good for dinner and excellent cooked breakfast, staff were lovely too and couldn't be more helpful. Amazing value for money would recommend to anyone who wants something olde.

One of the best pub lunches I have had and very reasonable prices. There were four of us who had lunch and everyone agreed it was good value for money and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Could not fault anything during out time in the pub.
