So at last Smugglers reopens as a restaurant and we decided to try it out on a late March evening. To be honest I was disappointed that we have lost a local pub but glad that it was open at all. Booked on line, booking confirmed within 12 hours. Restaurant was busy at 7:30. Most tables full. Good to see. Service was efficient and very friendly. Menu has been targeted for mass appeal and priced accordingly. Mains are good value - starters and deserts are half price at the moment. Food was excellent. Well cooked and good portions. As we only live 50M away I think we will be back.

I used to drink here every week with a friend but when it shut as a pub and turned into a restaurant only, of course, we stopped going However, this evening we decided we would give it a try and we had three courses for £10 which was more than I could eat but was nice plain simple food served very quickly by charming waitresses The place was packed The only downside for me was that the only draft beer they sell was Spitfire, which is not my favourite beer It is a shame that the Brewery will not let them have a guest Beer such as Harvey’s best, which is wonderful We will certainly return at sometime in the future, and this evening. It was a good job that we booked.

The restaurant has a nice old interior that is well kept and the staff are nice and friendly. The food is selection is OK. However it was clear from our last visit that when you buy one of their 3 course meal deals the resulting food portions are noticeably smaller than when you buy the items separately. I found this quite an underhand trick which resulted in me remaining hungry due to the smaller portions I received.

First visit to the new restaurant was very pleasant with sympathetic decor, friendly and efficient service and an extensive and well priced menu. Good parking too. Only slight downside is that it was a bit noisy when full due to the low ceilings but we will certainly return. Excellent value for money.

I know I am difficult to please when it comes to food and service. I have to admit that food was cooked just right and hot as it should be. It also tasted great. Service was very quick and friendly specially the waitress who served us. She reminded me so much of Cathy Brown from Mrs Brown's Boys. She was friendly and on the ball. We went there to chill out after a very stressful day for me and my girlfriend as her cat had to be put down to sleep beforehand. Thank you everyone involved for making it a nice evening.

Four of us went to the Smuggler's yesterday for lunch and chose off the 3courses for £12-50.. Excellent value...service was ..excellent..friendly but not intrusive and the portion sizes were the same as if you'd chosen off the main menu and the food was hot and delicious...Resturant was packed.....

I wish I could rate this place more than 5 stars. After having a wonder of the town we found this pub to have some late lunch not realising they all shut there kitchens around 3, we went to leave after finding this out but the staff went above and beyond to cook us some lunch. I had the Mac and Cheese which was the best thing I have ever eaten and my partner had the ham egg and chips which he said was really good too. They had a good offer on that with a ice cream to follow which again was so refreshing and yummy. I wish we lived closer to be able to return as we loved it there, again thank you so much for feeding us we are beyond grateful!

Love this restaurant, it's not a pub, it's somewhere to eat where you can get a drink. Great staff, service and food, as well as terrific value

Very good unassuming pub with a very long history. Plenty of seating with a separated restaurant. Excellent beers and a good choice of food. Friendly staff. Good sized adventure garden.

Good food served very pleasantly in a wonderful old building. Food is served hit and in a timely fashion. Incredible value fir money. This weeks offer was £10 for 3 courses if you had fish as your nain dish. This restaurant always has a fantastic offer on the go. The owner and staff are friendly and make you feel very welcome. Highly recommended

Stopped for a quick pint and a meal. Smugglers always has a deal going. Luckily for me, this was a starter and steak meal for £10. Surf and Turf was excellent. I had a perfectly cooked fillet steak with about 6 scampi. Every time I've eaten here it's been busy, so there is always a warm atmosphere. To be able to get a 2 or 3 course meal for £10 - £15 is amazing and a real treat when most things in life have rocketed in price. Definitely need to book and check the website to see what offers are on.

Fathers Day Meal. Food was fantastic, very hot, tasty and generous portions. Good choice on menu to cater for different tastes and dietary requirements etc. Service was amazing, very attentive and checking that everything was ok with the meal. Nothing was to much trouble. Would definitely recommend eating here. Thank you for an enjoyable Fathers Day lunch.

Seven of us for a meal. Food was brilliant, faultless service. Place was packed. Sister and brother in law amazed at the prices. Two courses left everyone bursting at the seams.

Firstly MIND YOUR HEAD as you entre I didn't which probably gives a different view of the restaurant/bar. Food prawn cocktail starters served on a plate with lettuce and brown bread. Not quite what I was expecting although nice presentation could of been better. (Idea use a wine glass). Followed by surf and chicken in bread crumbs with chips and salad. Very filling and enough not to be hungry after. Atmosphere was of an original pub toilets clean and waitress was polite. Would I go back YES
