Review The Shoe Inn - Plaitford

Just came home from having a weekend away there. The owners/staff are so kind you couldn't ask for better service. The food was delicious. The room is great size, we brought our 2 dogs and had loads room still. Only thing I would say is a full size mirror would be amazing but that's just me being picky otherwise really good in room, very clean. We definitely will be back. Such value for money.

Nice village pub with low beams and part thatched roof, it was surprisingly quiet, all the staff were lovely, particularly the young lady who was our dinner waitress, my wife and I both had fish and chips and agreed it was delicious and filling, we then had creme bruille and sticky toffee pudding, again, both were delicious. Breakfast in the morning was the usual full English and again nice and tasty. The stairs and landing were a little low but part of the charm, the actual room was spacious and clean, all in all a good welcoming village pub, we would be happy to stay again.

We had a really pleasant stay. The room facing the garden was perfect, we didn't hear much noise. Lovely hosts with a fun evening and a good breakfast. Thank you.

We stay at The Shoe Inn annually during the New Forest Folk Festival. Obviously, the location score is tops because it's a short walk to the festival. For a pub the rooms are excellent. The all round welcome, food and beverage service is also excellent. Thank you Sarah and Andy for the great hospitality in 2023!

We pulled up late at the pub on a very rainy evening due to car trouble and were greeted with great hospitality. The room was clean and tidy, and the breakfast lovely. Thoroughly recommend.

So going back for another lunch!!! We had the absolute joy of having a sunday dinner at the shoe in and were more than suprised at the whole experience. Firstly the staff were amazing and while writting ths I am a bit dissapointed with myself for not getting the names of the staff to thank them properly for their service. Secondly is the food, I have no idea who the chef and the kitchen staff are but boy can they cook and lots of it as well. You know when you have been away from home for an age and you come home and your mum cooks that one meal that reminds you of how much you missed her ? Well that is the food at the Shoe inn, its like coming home to a plate full of love. We were a party of four who in a short period of time went from general chit chat to talking about the food and how enjoyable it was. If I have one crtique it would be watch out for the gents bathroom, it is spotless and in maintaining it thatway a person on crutches (that being moi) can be suprised at just how well one can still ice skate. All I can say is thank you, awesome service awesome food well done you guys.

Overnight stay. Comfortable if small room with good en suite facilities. Spotlessly clean. Good fan provided in extremely hot weather. Quite a lot of road noise - should have brought my earplugs. Delicious breakfast. Sarah, the host, was friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking.

Great hosts and staff. Food was exceptional. Couple of things for info only (NOT a complaint) We had a room on the front. We were told the pub was near a busy road, and offered a room at the back for a little extra. We are on a tight budget, have lived on 'busy' roads so chose the cheaper option. It was a mistake. The traffic is horrendous ALL NIGHT! The property is right on the side of the road, I thought the lorries were coming through!! Just a note that the shower head is in the centre of the ceiling of the shower so keeping hair dry is nigh on impossible. No shower caps provided. Also nowhere in the shower to put shampoo etc except the floor. Again, just notes not complaints. The pros definitely out weighed the cons. Would definitely stay again (at back) 😉

Old public house with rooms. Right on the A36 with a small carpark next to it and a much larger one across the road. There are traffic lights about 5 metres away. Our spacious room at the front was spotless, had a shower over the bath and plenty of hot water. Bed had a foam mattress, not my favourite but still got a good night's sleep. Didn't get disturbed by the traffic but that may have been due to the road being closed for some reason. Rooms are upstairs, no lift . Good range of beers etc. Excellent hot breakfast. Handy Tip: if the road is busy when you want to drive off then press the traffic light button, nip back to your car and wait for the lights to change, they don't change quickly.

Great stay! Amazing value. Snug room. Everything spotless. Had a lovely meal in the pub, where the chef, owner catered really well for alergies. Amazing breakfast. Nothing too much trouble. Would definitely recommend! Thankyou!

2 very cheerful lady attendants. The stairs had low cross beams to upstairs rooms. You had to duck to go through up stairs. Went back had supper next to cosy fire. The table was wobbly and had a stick under one leg to balance. The table was very sticky and felt as if it had not been wiped clean. The attendant gave as a lovely smile and introduced the menu saying everything was cooked fresh. The menu prices were medium priced for food. With steak being a bit pricy. Drinks were served promptly and the wait for food was about 20 to 30 minutes all freshly prepared as she said. The mince beef lasagne with salad was brimming full of freshly cooked mince in sauce with a freshly made salad. The freshly baked steak Ale pie was baked perfectly with a firm crust with lots of meat chunks and Alec.Served with freshly prepared and cooked mash potato, broccoli, carrots, pumpkin and parsnips. Very tasty . Both dishes for 13 and 15 Gbp were excellent value. The rooms upstairs were neat and tidy with fresh towels and clean linen. Very impressive value for money.
