Spent New Years Eve at the Ponthir House and what a great fun night it was! There was a great friendly atmosphere in the pub and service to match. The buffet was really good, big variety of food and plenty to go round - even food left after it seemed all had eaten and the disco started. Great tunes played and lots of enthusiastic dancers making the most of them! A fab night and great value -.well done all at the pub.

Lovely food and a smashing price too! I recommend the sharing starter for 2 it was enough for 4 of us to have a decent nibble :) The mains arrived quickly and the highlight for all of us was the garlic bread... it was stunning, the pie of the day with perfect pastry was just as good. Everyone loved their food and the service was great too. Thank you !

What a wonderful place to go. Wether you're just going for a meal or for a special occasion, went there for mothers day and had a wonderful meal, with a surprise bunch of daffodils for all the mums. Brilliant, friendly and helpful barstaff. Had a great time watching the rugby also. You have to try this place. Once you go you'll just want to tell everyone. We have to keep places like this alive. Keep doing what you're doing Barry Waldron you're doing great. Thanks everyone.

Myself & 2 friends had a meal & drinks yesterday & we were very happy with the food & service. I had the chefs lasagne which was very good ( I’m very fussy ) & I loved the home made chips too. My 1 friend had the sirloin steak which she said was amazing & recommended it for my next visit in a few weeks time. The garnish that came with the steak had been forgotten but the waitress came out with a larger side salad when this was mentioned. My other friend had the burger which she thoroughly enjoyed too. All the meals were good portions, cooked to perfection & plentiful. The waitress & bar staff were all polite & very helpful & im looking forward to my next visit in a couple of weeks time.

First visit here last night and even though it was full to the rafters the staff were friendly , food came out hot and tasty and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. Also no trouble at all discussing food intolerances and changing things to suit. Well done!

Long covid: Struggling three years with no taste or smell, I find it difficult to rate the restaurants I visit. However, sometimes there's a reprieve, and the gammon I had wasn't too bad. The only reason for the 4 star rating was the small pineapple ring placed on top of said meat. It just wasn't enough.

I didn't have food so I can't comment although what I saw looked lovely, we visited at around 14.00 so I assume that was the lack of atmosphere, beer was great and service was great and dogs are very welcome.

Coming from London trying to find a place to have brunch on Bank holiday and thankfully they were open. It was cold and rainy as we could only sit outside with the cover but they turned on all the heaters to make sure everyone is warm. Very nice and friendly staff patiently explained the menu and dishes. The mains are big and fulfilling. We tried the welsh lamb liver and it was great! Also their steak was amazing. Overall very good experience, would recommend this place.

We looked this up online and decided to try it. It was lovely. The rugby was on and they weren't doing food as it was going to be busy.. but it was fairly quiet when we got there and the landlord said he will happily make us something before it gets busy. Which was so sweet of him. The food was lovely and the staff were great. Lovely dog who resides there was very friendly too,as were the locals. Theres also a local shop onsite selling local fresh produce which was an added bonus! Definitely go back again.

Three of us had a meal here earlier this evening. There are three things to say about this place: The portion size, quality and value for money are all exemplary, The service is polite, cheerful and accommodating, The ambience is good; roomy inside, extensive seating area outside and music that is unobtrusive but takes one down memory lane. We bring our friends here too!

Really lovely Sunday roast, outstanding roast potatoes! The beef was a bit of a let down, hence 4 stars. I'd recommend this place if you're in the area!

Great little pub and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food looks and tastes fantastic also the dog which unfortunately I didn't get his name is quite the character 😃 it's a 10/10 from me and will be visiting again when in the area. Thanks 👍

Went there for Sunday lunch 17/09/17. Tried several other places that had stopped serving by half twoish. Staff were excellent and seated us straight away. The roast was excellent, my beef was superb and the missus" lamb also very good. Great selection of well kept real ales. Very reasonable to boot!! Recommended...

A lovely pub, enjoyed a few meals over the past few months. Sunday Dinner is fantastic, lasange amazing and thoroughly enjoyed the sirloin steak. Great selection of beers and ales, keeps me coming back. A cosy setting which is perfect for families, couples or for a quiet drink. The fireplace going in the winter months is brilliant. What's most appreciated is the service, polite staff, owner works like crazy and can't do enough for you.

Nice and quiet if you don't fancy the business of the village. Cheap pints and good bar snacks. Even had a pack of cards behind the bar for us! Free WiFi, friendly staff. What more can you ask for?
