Stayed here as a pub stop over in our campervan on our way home from holiday. Staff very welcoming, had a lovely meal and a few drinks in pub.

Wonderful dog friendly place. There was a sign on the Hadrian's wall footpath which we followed up to the road. Food was great, service excellent &our little dog was made to feel very welcome&got dog treats.

We arrived and established that we didn't have a reservation (nothing to do with the H&A). We were made to feel exceptionally welcome nonetheless as other local venues were rung until they found us a room. We had a lovely meal before being shuttled to our new hotel. What should have been a traumatic start to Hadrian's Wall ended up a beautiful beginning that I would not swap. Thanks for your kindness and hospitality Hope and Anchor

Stayed for a night whilst doing the Hadrian's Wall Cycle Way in June. Stuart and his team were brilliant, warm and friendly, a great welcome after a hard day's cycling. The food was spot on and the breakfast was amazing, all locally sourced and a lot of pride taken in it, and well deserved too. Would highly recommend to any cyclist or walkers passing through!

Came to eat at the Hope and anchor by pure accident but we are so glad we did. Great food cooked to order, lovely atmosphere and the staff are so warm and welcoming. Good parking, decent prices and plenty of sitting room inside and out.

Excellent customer service from entering until leaving. I had the Steak & Ale Pie and it was very good and the portion size was very filling. For desert I had the Lime Cheesecake which came out in a very generous serving. The speed of food to table was lengthy but I presume this is because everything was cooked from fresh. Overall a very good experience and I will be returning again in the near future.

We stayed overnight before starting the Hadrian's Wall walk. Lovely room, great food and a fun quiz night. Fran & Gary were very welcoming, and provided an enormous breakfast to set us up nicely for our first day on the trail!
