Highly recommend the dining experience at salt cafe. Last night we had a vegan four course meal here, and it was delicious. Creative dishes with fantastic flavours and beautiful presentation. Lovely staff too, very impressed.
Have been meaning to visit this cafe for ages. The experience was first class, staff all friendly and the food was out of this world. Had the breakfast and the quality of produce used was ace. Will be back again, pricey but worth it for quality.
I loved my visit to Salt staff very friendly and even accommodated my fussy no snotty egg request thanks for that. The food is good real good. But be warned because of all of this it can get busy, but worth the wait, you can stand and watch the goings on around and admire the view.
Love this place.....a little gem tucked away on the waters edge. Great staff, gorgeous food, delicious cake and the best prosecco ! Will be back very soon.
We discovered this place by chance and it’s so deceiving from the outside. Lovely decor inside and views over the water. Very polite staff and amazing cakes! We happened to go on Mother’s Day and there was a young couple singing and playing a keyboard. Really added to the already lovely atmosphere. Will definitely visit again!
Love this place great food service and location . Best place outside for sunny breakfast
We had a surprise 21st party for my daughter this weekend. The staff have been amazing. They helped with decorations and they worked so hard serving us all evening. Thank you Ellie Greene for making my baby girls party go off without a hitch!! This place is Recommended 100% for an intimate party. Beautiful setting and wonderful staff. Thank you Teresa Lister x
As a first time visitor to Salt I was pleasantly surprised at the high standard of food on offer. I had poached egg and salmon on sourdough bread and it was delicious.
Lovely friendly people in the cafe, and I am sure the views would be spectacular if the sun shone !
Will definitely make further visits to this little gem of a place.
Fantastic lunch served by staff that were friendly and always smiling. Everything about this place is simply beautiful.
So I found this unique cafe 2 weeks ago and have already been 5 times, including for one of the "Dining Room" nights for an amazing gourmet dinner. If it's good in winter, I can only imagine how special it will be for the rest of the year. I know I will spend many happy days here.
Had lunch on Wednesday and then the monthly dining experience last night. Wow , excellent food and perfect sized portions for all 4 courses . Will definitely be back. Keep up the good work. This place is a gem
Great location by the water, lots to see (binoculars provided at window tables). Excellent service, welcoming and friendly in just the right proportion with nice coffee and delicious cakes. From the outside its an ordinary grey box .... inside its a gem of a cafe !
I don't often give out full marks but I had a wonderful brunch at this little gem. My breakfast was delicious, great 'proper butchers' sausage and adjustments made with no fuss. I loved my pecan pie desert nutty and sweet, my friend had the courgette pistachio and lime cake and that was lovely moist and fresh full of lime. I wasn't so fond of my ice latte but the white chocolate frappe well I could have had another. I came with my friend and our babies and we felt welcome and well looked after. It wasn't the cheapest of places but in a lovely secluded setting with great views and free parking I marked the full package. I would definitely visit again.
Super place for a spot of lunch and walk along the shoreline. Lovely food, the cafe is well decorated and the staff are very welcoming and polite. Super views from the window seats and plenty of tables outside. Bar inside the cafe and toilet inside.
Turn Left immediately after Heritage Gardens, at the sign on your left. Down the track on the Right is dedicated parking for the café. There is a decked walkway leading along the fence line to the shore and the Café can be seen directly ahead. The path is wheelchair accessible and if you are mobility impaired, at the road barrier, press the buzzer and you will be given access to drop of the passenger, returning the vehicle to the allocated parking area.
The outdoor seating covered patio looks out across the water and has views towards the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.
The staff are super friendly and very helpful with requests.
The Latte was really creamy and the full English Breakfast included proper tasty sausages.
Ambience is homely and the seating includes a large group table, casual dining, a bar area and soft sofa relaxers. Brilliant find and will certainly try again in the summer when booking in advance will be a must. It does get busy.
As promised, 2nd visit on a Bank Holiday Monday, when booking was essential. At 0930 the cafe was buzzing. All as before, brilliant.
An out of the way location right on the water front. Fab views of Dockyard, Spinnaker Tower and Gosport.
Very small Menu. Had the ploughman's, very nice, slice ham, piece cheddar, half scotch egg, mini gherkins and onions, piccalilli and piece sour dough. Nice latte. Table for 2. 12.5% service charge!!
Lovely cafe right on the water front excellent food and very friendly polite staff really enjoyed it here and would highly recommend definitely going back
Love this little gem, right on the waterfront. A perfect location to start or end a walk on the English Coastal Path. Easy parking nearby and dog friendly.
I only discovered Salt for the first time this week despite being relatively local to the area, it was a brief visit just grabbing a take out coffee and cake, but both were excellent and I frequent a lot of cafes travelling all over the country for my job! Location and decor fantastic, can't wait to return for a longer visit.
Went on a very rainy day. Apparently it has changed hands. Food is basic BUT presented and cooked well. The cakes are tasty and varied. There is a covered outside area where you can eat and/or drink. A covered outside bar has also been introduced, it looked enticing. Access to the bar does not have to be through the cafe, there is a walkway around the outside of the cafe. Being on the waters edge makes the experience all the more enjoyable. Open until 8pm. The staff are kept very busy as it is so popular.
We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Salt cafe enjoying the views across the Portchester shoreline with great food and atmosphere. Staff are friendly, food is excellent (we had the Slat cafe breakfast grill and the vegan 3 bean chilli) plus the espresso blend is nice too. Highly recommended, it can get busy so worth booking at peak times, really nice spot to stop on the shoreline and enjoy the food and hospitality at Salt cafe👍🏾👊 dog friendly too and they will even do a plate of sausages for the dogs to enjoy while you sit and chill🐕😁
Lovely location and lovely food. The staff were lovely.
Excellent little cafe by the sea. I found it a little expensive, but the quality of the food was excellent. The service was unbeatable and there is also an option to sit outside on a hot day.
Its a popular place so you aren't always guaranteed a parking space. You might have to park down the road and walk up, but it's worth it.
Found a little treasure with this one! Sat on the small decking pier enjoying the sunshine with a nice cold beverage and sweet treat!
Amazing location and great staff. We arrived a day early for our booking, our fault, but they accommodated for us anyway, even though it was busy, and the food stil turned up quick and was lovely. Fab. Great view over the harbour and the docks of Portsmouth.
Love this place! Really beautiful location. Food is very fresh and tasty. I would reccomend booking a table as they only just managed to fit us in
This is a great cafe. Either walk there along a lovely coast path from Porchester, or cycle there (they welcome cyclists) or just park there. Brilliant views, either on their pier in sunny weather, or inside, or on the covered deck. Best to book. Good selection of good food including vegan and veggie. Coffee also good.
Lovely position never been before but on a perfect day,a perfect place to sit and relax a while while taking a tasty snack.
Accidentally put a review on for a different cafe. Deleted it, apologies.
My friend & I had the avo toast with poached egg. Lush!! We went over our allotted time, but our server advised us to sit on the the sofa chairs. Ordered another tea. Staff really friendly.
Lovely coffee shop ❤️
Really good food and good service, with a couple of caveats:
Really busy every day, book if you can or be prepared for a wait for a table;
The food tends to be more restaurant prices rather than cafe prices and the menu is quite limited.
However, the views are nice and the food can be really good - this time we went for the disco fries and bacon, sausage and egg sandwich. The sandwich was exceptional, possibly the best I've had.
Would come again but not too regularly.
