Visited last week with my family. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the saltwater chicken. The staff were friendly too! Every one of us was pleased with our meals!

Popped in here with my wife & our dog to see what the food was like as this is our pick for date night this month 😉
I had cajun chicken burger & my wife had corned beef pie.
OMG, the portions were huge. The handcut chips were like we wedges & everything was cooked perfectly.
It was very busy when we arrived at 12.30 (no booking) so we had to wait for 30 minutes for a table, not a problem as we went shopping.
Surprisingly my pint of Pepsi max was only £1.98 😲 where I'm used to paying a lot more.
Very friendly staff, excellent value for money & a nice atmosphere for a lunch time.
We will definitely be coming back for date night & I'm looking forward to a 20oz steak.
Also will recommend to family & friends.

Well I have to say on behalf of myself and partner... we have always eaten here and never had a bad experience... tonight August 5th 2023 was no exception.. my partners birthday we decided to spend the evening eating and drinking here at the saltwater Inn as we did on our first date 5 years ago and have continued to do on numerous occasions... our meals were absolutely outstanding the customer service we received was 10 out of 10 .. so we honestly can't understand what the negative reviews are about? ... yes everyone will have a different opinion on food and service but in our case we can't fault this lovely place where we always choose to eat .. overall 10/10

Fabulous place..lovely atmosphere. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Food was amazing and very reasonable. Will definitely be coming back. One tip..we were very lucky on our visit to get a table. Might help to ring ahead or book in advance. I had new york steak..

What a wonderful place. Popped in on the off chance this evening at 5pm as it was our last evening on holiday. 4 of us and a dog and the landlord kindly fitted us in for a meal which I have to say was lovely. All home cooked and very reasonably price. Definitely recommend.

Enjoyed the warm cosy atmosphere that was on offer on a cold and stormy night. We enjoyed freshly prepared food at a reasonable price served by two lovely friendly ladies. We would definately go back, especially with the dogs which are also welcome!

Fish and chips was ok. Chips were great, fish not so good, garden peas very poor, watery. On the food check I hadn't tried them, otherwise I would have said so. Cajun chicken was fabulous. Drinks served quickly. Service was fantastic considering the place was full. People were being turned away, so advisable to book, we did. Also dog friendly, quite a few dogs in.

Feel I can only leave a 2 star rating,1 for the beautiful food and 1 for the lovely waitress who served us!
We were a table of 3 and specifically booked here on a Friday evening,so we could make a night of it...have a meal and a few drinks after (table booked for 8pm)!
We ordered drinks,our meal arrived and when we finished eating I went to the bar to order more drinks where I was told that the bar was closed (9.30) and the doors had been locked since 8.50!We had ordered 1 drink each,1 of which was a bottle of wine that had to be drunk rapidly as we felt pressured to leave!
Whereas it is a great place to eat,it is definitely not somewhere you can relax and take your time to enjoy a full evening!I think customer’s should be made aware of this and if a bar stops serving so early then surely they should inform you beforehand,especially if you have just ordered a bottle of wine to enjoy throughout the night �

We go there regularly now... the food is excellent and the staff are so nice .. would highly recommend this place ... how on earth certain people slate this place is beyond me, we have never had a bad meal there and the food is always hot..it's definitely deserved of a 5 star rating.

Never again!
After a variable first visit where 2 of the 4 meals were sent back we gave this place another try today. What a mistake. Arrived really hungry and ordered beef madras and steak & ribs combo, house wine a little pricey at £14 a bottle but it was nice.
When the food arrived my steak & ribs were barely warm so asked for it to be heated, the curry was ok but not as described on the menu containing not a single vegetable but hubby enjoyed it. As my food came back out the waitress was followed by the chef who once he saw where the food was being delivered to glared at me across the restaurant floor and stalked back into the kitchen.
Sadly the steak was now even colder with slightly warmer - but not hot - ribs on top of it, chips were still not hot. The waitress was apologetic and offered for it to be reheated again or swapped for something different but by this time I just wanted to leave. My food was taken off the bill but there was no other compensatory offer or gesture and clearly no manager on site.
Very disappointed and will not return.

This is the 3rd time we have visited the Saltwater Inn and wasn’t disappointed. Parts of it are dog friendly which is great for us. We arrived without booking and were seated immediately by a gorgeous log burner fire. We ordered food from the extremely polite and helpful staff and it arrived quickly. The food was delicious with very generous portions.
We had a lovely chat with a couple on the next table who told us they go there every week for food.
Would thoroughly recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone who wants a fab meal served by lovely staff.

Sad to say and I don't like doing this, worst meal I've ever had from any place of food ever. First time of eating there aswel. I had a table at just after 6 on Saturday, I ordered the slow cooked belly pork in a red wine and red-current sauce, there was only 2 tables in at that time so no pressure at all. The belly pork came out as hard as a stone, almost comical, I tried to cut it and couldn't, I asked the waitress for a steak knife and I still couldn't saw a piece off it, my partner had the maxi cod in batter which wasn't too bad, batter wasn't right but atleast edible, that's why I'm awarding one star, and as a local person if anybody asks me what do I think of the food there this is what I'll be saying, no need to serve food that bad, what was the chef doing sending that out!

Attended on the 22nd January 2018 very friendly and helpful staff, meals are very reasonable, would have given it 5* if the menu was not so meat orientated not enough selection, it’s pub food not restaurant level, but it’s good food and worth the money you pay for it.

Was there for a meal last night with my family. Have been many times before.....coming from London, we usually book in for a meal here when we visit Porthcawl, and always had a good meal and service.....last night was no exception. When we walked in, we were greeted by Justin, lovely friendly guy. We all chose different options from the menu, and every meal was wonderful. If I had one complaint its the fact I never get to try the waffles, always too full. But always found the staff very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back.

Lovely pub with sea views from the front and a welcoming fire inside! Great food at sensible prices with fast and friendly service. I would recommend this as the place to eat in Porthcawl!

Called in on the off chance hadn't booked a table, but was given the choice of 3 tables. Staff were very friendly and helpful ordered our meals, if choosing fish and chips ladies go for the small one as the large one is huge. Saying that the meal was lovely and very reasonable, would definitely go back to try other meals. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Visited today with a toddler and three adults, staff were brilliant really friendly and couldn't do enough for us.
The food was amazing, I had been eyeing up the dessert menu but will have to save that for another visit as absolutely stuffed.
