A proper traditional pub with a decent garden outside. Friendly attentive staff and a good choice of well kept beers and food was good. A great alternative to the one down the hill that seems to take all of the attention and you fancy somewhere a bit more personal.
Best pub in the area for us. Very friendly, great home cooked and locally sourced food. Beer is excellent. What a pub should be like. I hope it never changes.

We had really lovely food last night at the Royal Standard. Homemade fish pie and homemade steak and ale pie. Followed by the most delicious apple crumble and clotted cream.

The couple who run the Royal Standard are very helpful and friendly. It's a classic pub with low beams and it hasn't gone in for flashing lights and loud music.
