Great night with family. 5 of us all enjoyed our food. All hot and well cooked. Mixed grill was one of the best. Eton mess and all other deserts thoroughly enjoyed. Service was exceptional and friendly. The only disappointment was 2 of the ales being down but the Abbots Ale was good. Very good value for money. Have been disappointed in the past but last night restored my faith in the Goodies and will be back.
Lovely little pub, great atmosphere both of an evening and during the day. The staff are lovely, and very attentive with Drinks and running food. I had great service for a young girl Summer especially on my last few visits. Would come again, would recommend

Had lovely meal with my partner and parents today , all meals were good and desserts were even better . Nice atmosphere in there and staff were all very pleasant. Will definitely be back
Came here for a meal before going to a match at fratton park. Despite it being busy with lots of fans ,our food was delivered quickly while enjoying the atmosphere . Food was delicious and location great for the football
A very well stocked bar, with plenty of lagers. A good food menu, which is reasonably priced. Decor is modern and clean. A good all-around pub.
Although we never had anything to eat what we saw going to the other tables looked amazing and smelt even better. Sam behind the bar was very welcoming that it was like being served by an old friend certainly would recommend anyone to come and join in the atmosphere.
Becky is one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met! Her patience and kindness towards all abilities is outstanding and no person could feel unwelcome at the pub! The dedication she puts into the events and decor is unmatched, every time I go in there there’s a new, perfectly put out display of the current holiday/event. The food and service is also amazing and efficient! If you’re looking for a friendly pub, with a great vibe, amazing staff, yummy food and somewhere to feel safe and unjudged, this is the place for you! (Ps. I really miss the hunters chicken toastie😭)

Was there today and had the Gammon and it was honestly the best gammon meal I've ever had, will definitely order again great value for money
Enjoyed a meal at the Good Companion. Great service and welcoming staff. The Gammon Steak and the Chicken with bacon cheese meals were delicious and restored the energy of two weary travellers.

Can't fault the place, and stand by my opening statement, just feel embarrassed that I visit the place with my brethren, and while accepting no responsibility for the state of the toilets, I apologise on their behalf... Either bring wellies, or visit when Wednesday aren't in town...
Really good pub and always the best atmosphere, all the staff are lovely, especially summer she is so helpful and really good at her job. We will definitely be coming back for sure.
I had a wonderful 50th birthday here and it was brilliant !!!
