The Roundabout Diner & Lounge

From the look at the menu we were extremely excited for the selection of good diner choices. We started with the cheddar bacon chips. These were wonderful and a nice twist on nachos. I went with the rids and the plate came out over flowing with food. That is where the disappointment started. The sauce had no distinguishing taste, no sweet, no tangy, no hot, no nothing almost like ketchup but that doesn't even describe it right. Corn beard warmed on the grill before serving and was offered butter which the waitress had to get, I think she forgot, so the corn bread was dry. Cole slaw again no flavor to speak of. No I don't have COVID-19 because my wife agreed. Her mac and cheese was bland and wasn't worth a to go bag. We will be back to try breakfast dishes from the choices that look so good.

Arrived at 8:15 and was seated promptly. Our booth was in back by the bar. Would have preferred a seat in the front with a view! Coffee was good and server offered refills often. Ordered an omelet and toast with fried potatoes. My husband reports his bowl was good. My son had eggs Benedict and it looked great. Service was very good. So grateful to the diner for being open and safe.

The food here is excellent, lots of choices and very reasonable prices. We had the brussel sprouts for an appetizer and it was excellent! I had one of the best and biggest Reuben sandwiches and was able to eat only half. My son had a turkey club which was so big he could only eat half of it. Very generous portions. Appreciated the manager coming over and asking how everything was. Nice gesture. Highly recommend and would definitely visit here again!

Food was not at a standard I am accustomed to. The hash browns had clearly been precooked some were so hard you couldn't even get a fork through them. The service was good the food was delivered quickly we ordered a side of bacon it was $3 and only came with two slices, little overpriced and overcook. Overall not a place I would recommend. There are many other fine eating establishments in the Portsmouth area.
