Review Dining At Durn House - Portsoy

This venue was on the outskirts of town, making it very convenient to walk into town for dinner. The hotel does offer dinner in-house with a limited menu, and I must say that they have an excellent chef. We chose to eat dinner in the hotel restaurant for our first night, and enjoyed it thoroughly. Breakfast was amazing as well. They offer a Porridge Brûlée which was out of this world. Rich and creamy. (probably a million calories, but SO worth it!) Our room was large, but the lighting was pretty dim. The bathroom was huge, with a glass shower located right in the middle. It could use some sort of towel hanger near the shower, as well as a handy shelf to place the shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There was a dining table with two place settings if one chose to eat breakfast in the room. We did not. The bed was large and very comfortable. The staff was hard working and attentive. A really lovely experience overall.

Lovely staff, very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was phenomenal, a wide range on offer and cooked to perfection. The room had lovely country house feel, the shower was great, we also had a bath. The bed was really soft and comfortable to sleep on.

Booked the Durn Suite to stay in for our wedding, which was in the local village. The bridal party used the room to get ready on the day, then we stayed for a few nights afterwards. The room was large and decorated with lovely antique furniture. The layout with breakfast table was very traditional. The service from the team was excellent, as were all of our meals. The Crème Brûlée Porridge was a particular highlight and a very decadent breakfast when taken with whisky! The relaxed setting, and team, were a lovely escape each evening after the busy activities of entertaining family and friends. Everyone was very accommodating and servicing the room was done to an excellent standard. We thoroughly recommend staying if you're visiting the area. Thanks to everyone at Durn House!

I can't praise Durn House highly enough. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch there. The food was truly excellent and the staff could not have been more delightful, looking after us and our dog, George with genuine kindness. The whole occasion felt like such a wonderful treat and even more remarkable, such good value that it could easily become our regular weekend destination. Highly recommended.

Lovely Sunday lunch treat in an old country house location just outside Portsoy. Peaky Blinders cast stayed here while filming too

I went with my daughter for afternoon tea, food was lovely, the right blend of sweet and savoury- the sausage rolls were amazing! Don’t eat before you go as the servings were very generous and we got to take some cake home. The staff were lovely, very friendly and personable and it was a very relaxed afternoon.

From arrival to departure I was extremely impressed with the team and how well I was looked after. During my stay I had breakfast, yummy porridge, lunch an amazing afternoon tea and dinner everything was to a high standard. My room was so comfortable and in keeping with the house the attention to detail was notable. Room service, provided by Carol, was first class. I have recommended to more family and friends. Thank you Durn House x

A very unique experience for myself and my wife. With only 8 rooms each perfectly presented, this hotel was all about quality. The food and service was truly spectacular and the whole experience felt like it was all done just for us. If you are ever in the north of Scotland I highly recommend.
