Last night was the first time I'd been to Espanol. I loved it. The aioli is the best I've tasted, the food was delicious and the owner was a delight. We will definitely be returning xXx

The food was amazing tonight. The beef with Italian cheese from the specials board was melt in the mouth - to die for!

this is an authentic Spanish restaurant where the atmosphere and food go hand in hand.    The owners want you to enjoy yourselves and relax over your food.    You never feel rushed and help is always at hand should you spot something unfamiliar on the menu.   all the food is made to order so do not expect a fast food joint    I have been working my way through the menu over a long time now and there is always something new to try.   Nothing is too much trouble  and the service and friendliness of the staff and the owners are second to none.
It can get noisy with lots of laughter - there is no background music, what a blessing ! - but good humour prevails,  and you feel transported to life under the Spanish sun !
Let the staff, particularly the owner, guide you through the food - don't overface yourself there is always more in the kitchen.
This is a welcoming place and the emphasis is on enjoyment,   the staff work hard in a small space - as they do in Spain - which is not always easy for them, but they  smile and get on with the job.
Be warned, the toilets are upstairs and well away from the restaurant but once you get used to the treck it is no problem.
Well done Moises and Shelley and Co. !

Update: went back again Mar 2023 still blown away by the quality of the food served here. Really cannot say enough good things about this place. Found this absolute gem last night .. went with the other half for a spontaneous date night .. couldn't have picked a better place .. we ordered 7 dishes from the tapas menus and we were not disappointed. All dishes were served piping hot and tasted amazing. We had the stuffed peppers, battered chicken, a chorizo, potato and egg dish and black pudding with feta cheese just to name a few of the dishes .. now I'm not a fan of black pudding it was the other half that ordered them but I tried it and it was one of my favourite dishes of the night. Staff were friendly, helpful and gave good recommendations. We will definitely be going back there soon I hope

Took a chance on getting a table early on a Friday evening and we were lucky as the restaurant was full when we left later. Food was excellent, hot & promptly delivered. Good service with friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Food was wonderful. Having lived in Spain back in the 70's I know my stuff and the food at Espanol is absolutely " Top Notch " Lovely warm atmosphere, friendly staff, I can't recommend Espanol Restaurant any more highly. *****

First things first, the aioli was the absolute highlight of the meal - it was incredible! We eat it quite frequently in my house and my wife is an expert at making it and this is the first time I’ve ever considered a restaurant to be on par with that - amazing! The calamari was nicely battered and crisp, the Spanish tortilla was wonderful, dense and flaky and the chorizo and clams in white wine sauce was equally flavorful. I’m glad I ventured out of the hotel for this meal.

We have drove past quite a few times and I must say the front looks very uninviting, which is why we haven't booked. however the food was 1st class absolutely delicious. Only downfall regarding food was everyones wasn't delivered to the table at the same time. Really good value for money though and great portion size . If the owners put a little more effort into the appearance of the outside they would in my opinion get more custom , neglected plants and weeds ,I understand that to some my comment about the front may be petty, but how the outside looks can reflect on the inside .

Exceptional Tapa's. I've been to a fair few Tapa's resturants over the years and this is the best one by far. It can work out and expensive evening but well worth it. Friendly and attentive staff, good food and good wine - what more could I ask for?

I love everything Spanish, but Tapas in the UK is just too expensive. The food was good and for 4 people having 3 dishes each at £8 each approx, including a bottle of red and a couple of beers was £150. service was good so no complaints there.

Great place to go. At first I felt that service was a little unfriendly but soon changed my opinion of that. The food was lovely (can highly recommend the Ox cheek dish!) although it did turn out to be quite expensive but then, I think that is usually the case with Tapas. It's a bit unfair to rate the atmosphere really as we were there as it opened and there really wasn't anyone else in there for most of the time that we were. Although they were clearly on for a busy night as they had to keep turning people away due to being fully booked. Would certainly recommend to anyone in the area and would happily return if we were back in the area.
