Stopped here for lunch on Tuesday 5 September and had very tasty chicken and bacon Caesar salad. It was the first time visiting Poundbury and it's a very unusual and interesting place. It was raining and the Duchess of Cornwall Inn provided a good resting place for lunch. Full of beautiful and different wood throughout the interior. We will be back when we are in the area again.
Lovely to go to a place with wonderful customer service. The food was lovely and priced well. We had a problem with one of our meals and nothing was too much trouble to fix It! Would recommend and would definitely go back.
Hospitality at its best! Comfortable room, large bed, fluffy towels, tasteful decor throughout, mix of old and contemporary working very well. Friendly staff, fantastic breakfast, good selection for both continental and cooked, same for evening meals. Architecturally stunning, full of light, ambient.
My only gripe is the top floor rooms are extremely warm, although a fan is provided I’m not sure what it would be like in summer. Stayed in November and it was warm.
My wife and I stayed hear on the night of our wedding, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. Breakfast in bed, top marks!
Band nights are also top notch. Absolutely heaving, which for Poundbury is a nice surprise.
I visited here with my hubby on 1st June 2018, and it was beautiful. Only had drinks and a cake but the service was good and the place was spotless. Love it.
Had a wonderful breakfast this morning, following a weather related work stoppage. The feel of the Inn is really welcoming. The food was just right and the lovely waitress that was looking after us was the icing on the cake. Definitely our ‘go to’ working lunch establishment now!
Had a lovely Beef Sunday lunch. Very beautiful premises. Ate upstairs very lovely table by the window. Will come again. Thank you.
A fantastic building in a lovely setting. Spacious and well thought through room. Love the country house feel and little touches. Food from snack, dinner, breakfast and drinks selection was brilliant. Accommodating staff...overall a brilliantly relaxing stay. Thank you Lucy and team xx
Met up with my family for Sunday Lunch. There were 8 of us and our dog, so we booked a couple days before.
We were sat downstairs and served by a young guy who made sure we has everything we needed. He was excellent!
One of my family wanted fresh strawberries with her ice cream… that’s not even on the menu but this amazing waiter made it happen!!
The food was all delicious, a gorgeous ambiance and generally one of the nicest Sunday meet ups we’ve had!
As is often the case with this type of place, it could be absolutely fabulous. It's close, but not quite there.
The building is all a bit false, but it is in Poundbury. The vibe was good, especially for a very wet evening in November, and the staff were lovely.
Its a shame that if you are only in for a drink, you can't go on the top floor to enjoy it. We were eventually allowed in, but it took a couple of minutes of awkward conversation beforehand. It's a lovely place but a bit stilted.
I'd go again, I think.
Quick visit while on the way west. Fab place but our young server struggled with a simple drinks order. Ended up charging me for totally different drink. Easily sorted by a chat with an experienced colleague. Big plus is the abundance of free parking.
Loved the pub... plenty of room inside and out. Badger beer here and lots more had plant / vegan burger which was very good.
Lost a point by being cashless though- not good:(
We love this place. The food is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful.
When we stayed here, we were pleased that the dog could stay too... the only difficulty being that dogs are not permitted in the upper dining room, which is where breakfast is served.
Dogs are, however, welcome on the ground floor so we enjoyed lunch and dinner there.
The decor is fabulous. We love the eclectic mix of old and new. The whole place is relaxed but with a hint of luxury that makes staying here a very pleasant experience.
Beautiful location, gorgeous decor and very nice food on menu.
What really made our visit was the friendly gentleman that served us, all staff were lovely but the gent looking after us went above and beyond. Thank you, we’ll be returning I’m sure 😊
We joined a small party celebrating one couple's marriage. We enjoyed being able to sit outside on a beautifully warm, sunny day, albeit needing to chase the shade a bit! The staff were friendly and helpful and the light lunches were tasty. The loos were clean and easily accessible by a lift if required.
Absolutely amazing place to stay. The area is just fabulous, so incredibly well done . History all in one area.
The Duchess of Cornwall Inn did not disappoint. The Inn was decorated in such detail , great atmosphere, staff, and food. The rooms are just WOW, all very quaint and British 👏 Can not rate this place enough . Friendly staff, great food quality, family-friendly goodness that satisfies the soul
Large modern pub, designed cleverly to appear older with an impressive amount of Royal portraits above the stairs. Food was good but not outstanding.
Visited this pub and restaurant many times.
Every time lovely polite staff and fabulous food.
I went with a friend recently who has several allergies and the staff were exceedingly helpful.
I can’t comment on the rooms as I haven’t stayed there. I’m a Dorchester resident so don’t have a need to. So lucky to have this lovely place to go for a relaxing atmosphere and enjoyment.
We visited the Duchess of Cornwall as a brief stopover at the end of a long European holiday. I picked it for the location as it was close to some places I wanted to show my partner. The hotel exceeded all my expectations. The room was fantastic and the service exceptional. The greeting from (I presume the manager) set the tone for the stay, careful, attentive and helpful.
Breakfast was superb and the evening meal we had in the pub was excellent.
Highly recommended if you want/need to stay in the Dorchester area.
Amazing staff, very attentive. Food was excellent, not rushed. Great beer
Please never change the chef!!!
The food here is GREAT. Clean way of cooking, you can really tell the chef know what he’s doing. When feeling naughty and ordered something like tempura , always crispy dry batter which is easy to digest.
I am a regular customer here and felt always good afterwards .
Super tasty and healthy choices. Highly recommended
Well placed pub for a sociable lunch. Quick service and using the table service app was painless via WiFi. Food was tasty and prepared and cooked well.
