Beautiful and tasty food for the reasonable price. I love new way of serving food - hot skillet.
We visited on Sunday evening and when we visit we all always enjoy a family meal out. It’s a great choice for us as it is easily accessible for us with my father who has reduced mobility from a stroke. There’s plenty of choice and very reasonably priced. We always find the staff friendly but on this occasion feel the need to write a review regarding some members of the staff.
We sat under the mirror opposite the condiments station so we were pretty close to the bar and as it was quiet could hear much of what was going on.
One of the ladies working (we now know her name is Jess) asked her colleagues nicely for help taking out orders to be spoken back to loudly by a few other staff members appallingly. She went on again to politely tell them puddings needed taking out (we were waiting for ours) and they again spoke back to her like she was nothing and continued to do so behind her back. The short lady who was wearing a yellow flowery dress (we didn’t catch her name) was very rude and voiced her opinion for all of us to hear - including foul language which if I’d of had children with me I’d of been mentioning it. The other one who was as bad was a young man we overheard his name to be Alex.
When Alex brought out our puddings (which were melted - it was a hot day so can’t complain but we got the impression from wait time and the attitude of the staff they had been left sat out - the girl in the flowery dress and Alex seem to think restocking the condiments table more important than customer orders or cleaning tables) my mother simply asked him the name of the lady who was asking them to do the jobs - he immediately got defensive and said she was the same level as him and going on with himself how she wasn’t his boss - we finally got it out of him that her name is Jess. My mother told him we only wanted to know so we could leave a review on how hard she had been working and how we felt she was being treated unfairly.
I never write reviews - But on this occasion all four of us felt the need to let you know how hard Jess was working for your business, even when she got a quiet minute on a really hot and sticky day she took to cleaning the high chairs while the others stood around. She never once spoke rudely to the other staff although they did speak terrible to her face and behind her back (very childish in my opinion). Jess didn’t bark orders at them she asked them nicely to be spoken to so vile we all thought it would be best to bring it to your attention.
This incident wouldn’t stop us from coming to eat here but it was unpleasant to see team members singling somebody out like a school playground.
Lovely very friendly pub. Great play area for the kiddies and a grab machine to amuse the older ones. Food brilliant which also includes light bites, children's menu and a golden years menu. Service is quick and with a smile. (Something that is rare in some establishments) eight of various ages in our group and every one was happy.
Really enjoy the food here everytime we go, the garlic chicken is really good! Never managed to fit a dessert in after a meal here but apparently they are very good. Be careful when using vouchers as they don't always go through on the till.
Had a lovely meal there this afternoon. My husband ordered the suet pud which should have been served with mash but came with chips instead, not a big problem, he followed up with treacle pudding with custard AND ice cream. Never had this combination before but he enjoyed it. I had steak and then the cookie dough dessert, which was one of the best desserts I've had. There is a lovely large area for children to play. Very pleasant altogether. Thank you
I Have used many pub for lunch and dinner, But this is by far the best good food nice staff. But to day was a bit different due to a fault with the Gas we had to wait until the repair guy came out to fix this but it was going to take until 5pm to fix (not the pubs fault) so the hour we were waiting we had free drinks (beer & soft drinks) and snacks and was kept informed with what was going on, as we had to take the kids to get some food this a late lunch for us we were given a £20 gift card as an apology for waiting so will be back very soon. Just also like to say thank you to all the staff as you do a grate job!
Picked the wrong day late Sunday very slow service, and a few meals incomplete, because they ran out of some bits, and staff problems, so I let the wife yak on and on to the manageress, whilst I tooked into one of the best steaks I have had in a long time, everyone else in the party enjoyed the food as well. Despite the problems 10/10
I have been here many times great food nice staff nice quiet place brilliant idea with the play area for kids even thou mine doesn't play there just runs about. You would have got a 5* however I came and tried the breakfast menu and I hate to say this but it wasn't that great way to many onions and to much oil but listen lunch meals are fab just breakfast isn't that great. Don't avoid this place definitely worth considering for food
The food is great, the drinks are great, the prices are great, the atmosphere is great, the entertainment is great (pool, TVs, fruit machines, quiet ambient good music), the staff are great, even when it's stupidly busy, for example eating there on a Sunday afternoon/evening, the staff are cool, calm, apologetic, and kind even when faced with angry customers wondering why their food is delayed somewhat. On a Sunday. Afternoon. Some people...
Large car park at the rear, easy to get to, covered heated smoking area... Lovely place, cannot recommend it enough.
Pleasant pub with good food. The fish and chips were excellent at 2 for £9. Coors Light was cold and delicious. Pleasant staff and everywhere looked well cared for.
