Review Zen Lounge - Purley

First time I went to this place.. Extremely quiet for a Saturday night around 8pm, hardly anyone in the place. Slightly on the expensive side of things but it's quite Lavish maybe that's why. Food was nice portion size was good.. Parking can be an issue but we managed to find a space. Overall good but nothing to write home about.

Lovely food and service at Zen Lounge in Croydon. The food was amazing, everything tasted great and was made fresh, including the sushi. My only complain is being served boiled rice rather than Japanese jasmin rice/sticky rice with the salmon. Other than that the service was good, as for the interior it was a little dim in lighting but very spacious and beautiful itself. The shisha lounge is separate to the actual restaurant which is downstairs. I will definitely be coming back.

Great atmosphere, chill vibe. Amazing food and drinks and is flexible which means you can go up and down from the shisha lounge to restaurant area etc. Deserves way more business.

Really delish Halal Japanese food! Definitely would go here often! They also surprised my nephew with a yummy soft chocolate cake (his fave as well!) complimentary for his birthday :-). The desi chai was lovely and mocha was so tasty! Dim sum was so yum and the duck spring rolls were like woaah! The staff were really kind and gentle. My family had a great time. Thanks Zen!

Atmosphere is amazing, nicely decorated restaurant, lots of flowers, comfortable chairs, good lighting, pleasure for eyes and pictures. There are free parking round the restaurant and upstairs have shisha (I personally think it's quite expensive) I was amazed by taste and look of main dishes, they were delicious and the service was great, the food came quick. All food are halal. Optional to add gold on top of your food. There are service charge of the total bill amount which is optional.

Went here for my friends wedding celebrations. I have to say the place was really lovely with an amazing atmosphere. Food was amazing and the shisha was excellent. The staff were super friendly. Highly recommend it. It was worth the money and time having travelled over an hour to get there.

We came as a group of 15. First of all what a beautiful and aesthetically pleasing place to be in. They have made it to feel spacious, well designed and an all round nice place to be in. Being a big group, we ordered a bit of everything from the menu. All round I would give the starters a 9.5 out of 10. Sushi, highly recommend any of the sets they provide, all of them have been made with precision and presented very well. Cheeseball and croquettes come as a set of three and are larger than they look so very good value, if you wish you can split a piece amongst eachother. Now the wings with a bbq coating, I personally don't choose bbq but wow I could not recommend this more. The burst of flavour it gives is fabulous. Very well cooked and such an amazing starter. Edamame with a chilli coating was very good as well as the side sea food dishes being very good choices. Moving on to the mains there was a slight decline from the starters. Firstly there was a few orders mixed up, some missing. Here is where I have to credit to the staff members. Throughout the night I could not fault the service, very polite, always available and always looking to please the customers so that was a massive plus. I personally ordered the beef with sweet potato mash. It ended up coming with chips but it worked out better this way. I do feel chips is a better side dish than the alternative of either sweet potato fries or sweet potato mash. My meal was cooked very nicely and I thoroughly enjoyed my main. I wasn't to crazy about the side salad with the dish and felt it could have been slightly better but overall I was happy with it. Now based off what other family members have said I would say the following: The black Cod probably being one of the most expensive dishes on the menu is a full on avoid. Both members said it did not taste nice at all and after the first bite immediately requested for a change of dish. The staff members took the courtesy of replacing the meals very efficiently with another choice from the menu. Lamb cutlets seemed to be another dish where most felt the coating of the lamb didn't feel right. You may want to choose this but based on how many pieces were not consumed it may be one to avoid. Finally the prawn main, was one where you taste a fishy smell and can often be overwhelming to the point you can't eat it. Chicken noodles came back as a very positive choice that was enjoyed by those who ate it as well as the duck. The drinks menu had a lot of variety as expected and compliments your meals well regardless of choice. Everyone who chose a mojito thoroughly enjoyed there choice. We then went on to the lounge area and for those who enjoy shisha (I personally dont) it is still a great place to hang about with family members and a place to socialise with those you care about. Zen lounge has a parking lot about which is great for those who travel here without having to worry about parking location. Pricing, considering how much we ordered and time spent there we spent roughly £55 per person which I think for the evening was fantastic value for money. Overall I think it was a great experience, would I go again here, yes I would definately recommend coming here as a group. Fantastic place to be, great staff members and a great fusion of food and choices on the menu. Yes some dishes could be better but I thoroughly enjoyed it all.

Zen Lounge - Absolutely amazing! The place is beautiful and staff are super friendly and the food is delicious. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. The venue was perfect, and the staff went out of their way to make my fiancé's proposal to me special. We will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. Was served by Lee for a Sunday lunch, was amazing service and she was incredibly welcoming and entertaining to my friend and I. Catered above and beyond. Food was prompt and delicious and so were the cocktails. No complaints, looking forward to coming again! *Update * 18/06/22 Food gorgeous per usual!

Amazing service, staff were really nice and we had a great anniversary event in the VIP. Katsu curry was really nice and the cookie dough dessert was really hot and tasty.

Went there with my son, very welcoming and friendly staff. Halal Food was lovely and ALL THE DRINKS are NONALCOHOLIC. What a fabulously brilliant idea. Definitely going back again. Oh and the car there’s a free car park😉

This has become one of our local favourites. I must say prior to lock down id had more than one bad experience here in terms of speed of service and the shisha. Since lockdown I’ve now been three times and what a turn around. Service has been good, food tasty and The shisha does not burn out quickly and is of good quality - also reasonably priced at £25. Their sushi is decent but slightly overpriced for the quality - although the ambiance and settings make up for the price! I’ve given it four stars because I would say whilst I accept the price because I like the place, their prices rival central london nicer sushi places.

This place is hands down one of the most aesthetically pleasing lounges I have ever visited. The customer service is incredible and all staff members are extremely attentive to all tables. Shisha was incredible, they had a variety of flavour options and a good range in different foods. The sushi was amazing, we had to get seconds. The chef really did a great job, I was thoroughly impressed. Presentation was exceptional and they had delicious beverages. This place is a little pricy but I’d say it’s worth it; had a great experience. Really enjoyed it and I would highly recommend.

The Mood: Even if you live in North or East or West London you must make the effort and come here as the venue is special and there is parking. You will leave happy and with a full stomach for certain. Zen Lounge must be one of the first and finest places to enjoy a great meal in a Shisha location that offers Shisha & Japanese Fusion also only serving all Halal and Alcohol Free throughout. Worth a visit. Zen Lounge is split level venue with the bar and resturant downstairs and many areas for your instagram posts and perfect areas to celebrate any special occasion. The decor alone is worth the visit and a few other surprises to see when you attend. The shisha is upstairs with various areas including an amazing VIP room for any larger parties wishing to book and feel that extra special.  Drinks - Mocktails - A good selection of drinks here including a speciality 24k Gold Leaf drink. But all alcohol free and a great nuance. Perfect for me as I dont drink and the first time I have felt I come first and foremost. Strawberry mojito - I loved this drink and it was so fresh and refreshing and perfect to either drink prior to your meal or after as it had a really refreshing cleansing of the palette effect. I had this prior to the meal and perfect whilst you wait for the food. Zen on the beach - A very sweet drink so if you need that sugar rush give this a go.  Food - A great menu where you feel you can attend multiple times as the selection is great so you can try different dishes on each visit. I always love a place where you want to try so much that you feel you want to order so many dishes and you forget you could come back many times and get to try the menu over time as your excitement to have it all and can’t decide takes over and makes you feel like a child at Christmas.  I did review each dish but not enough character limit on google so do check out my other sites for a full review. The Verdict: Zen Lounge is a great Shisha place even if you are like me and don’t smoke as there is so many good food options you are not compromising on food and also having a shisha lounge with a split level dining area is great and a Japanese fusion menu where you have a good mix of seafood and meat is also a great idea with a good selection vegetarian and dessert options there will be something for everyone for sure. Bring your partner, bring your friends, just come along and bring anyone…I neglected to mention how good management and staff are also and very helpful and always happy to help to recommend something for you.
