Have recently enjoyed chef Tom's succulent crackly pork belly dish, and previously the lovely gourmet burger. Not actually described as 'gourmet' but was just the way I like it! This is not just a place for great food, there are interesting ales on rotation and the warm welcome at the Lyndhurst makes it a homely experience. I've promised myself I will visit more often!

Great food, drink and hospitality!! A juke box too. Fab to finally have somewhere else other than London Street Brasserie that is a great independent that can actually serve amazing food as promised - and at a very reasonable price too. Highly recommended!!

Lovely Sunday lunch, great service by very friendly staff. Not my first visit and certainly won't be my last. Delightful bar on the edge town and a short stroll to the river. Can't be better.

[Visit 1] - Really good food and reasonably priced. [Visit 2] - This time we ordered cauliflower bites and monk fish tacos. Both were absolute delight and really worth the visit

I was pleasantly surprised by the culinary delights that were served. The food was nothing short of luscious, bursting with vibrant flavors that truly tantalized my taste buds. Although the menu was not extensive, it certainly did not lack in variety. I found myself delighting in many dishes that were skillfully prepared with the fresh fish and seafood. The Karaage chicken was an impeccable choice for an appetizer or as a satisfying option to enjoy between courses. As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of Mexican cuisine, I was skeptical when I saw the Al Pastor taco on the menu, but upon trying it, I must admit that it was surprisingly authentic in taste and presentation. The Hake with mussels was another culinary masterpiece. The dish was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a sauce that was both flavorful and well-balanced. Dessert did not disappoint either, as the strawberry tart was an exquisite finale to an already remarkable meal. The service provided by the staff was impeccable, and the selection of beverages was impressive. In conclusion, this establishment is without a doubt a must-visit destination for anyone who desires delicous food

Stopped off on a rainy sat evening after a gig a reading university. Brilliant tasty home made burgers at very reasonable prices , premium beers at £5 per pint. Really a little gem of a pub doing things just right , if only I had a pub this good on my doorstep my BMI would be in the red and my liver would be shot , people of reading , enjoy this gem of a pub

An absolute gem. We have eaten here umpteen times. Delicious , very reasonably priced food in a lovely setting. Interesting menu changes regularly, with daily specials. Portions are generous. Very good about accommodating allergies or tweaking dishes. Free 2 hour parking outside until 8pm on Watlington St, or very easy to walk from the town centre or Queens Road Car park if you're not a lucky local.

The food here is really good, we got 1 of each of the sharing boards and they looked fantastic - the tables either side of us said they wanted to join us cause there were jealous. We also had chips and the sweet potatoes wedges (which I would really recommend). Everything is well seasoned and curated well. The service was excellent and the staff were really kind. I would really recommend skipping the chains at the oracle and walking an extra 10 mins out to this place!

We came here for our sport club Christmas meal and were very impressed with the experience we received. From past history I know that restaurant Christmas meals can often be a bit of a throwaway compared to the usual menu but the Lyndhurst was a strong exception to this. The portions were excellent, the food was delicious and we loved the little touches that the Lyndhurst added for us. A superb venue for our Christmas meal and we look forward to returning during 2023.

Good place, stone floor compliments a rustic interior, dining is popular in the evening. A couple of ales usually available.

I have been to the Lyndhurst many times, and would 100% recommend it. The food is brilliant and completely unexpected from a roadside traditional looking pub. I've taken friends, family and my partner. The staff are lovely and even though I now live over half an hour away, I try to come back. Burger and curry nights are lovely, and wonderful value. We went here for Christmas dinner and it was great, best roast in reading!

The food here is superb and good portion sizes (we had the katsu burger and tacos). Nice selection of cocktails and other drinks. Ukranian waitress (sorry didn't get her name) that served us was very friendly and attentive. Five Stars.

This was out second visit and it most certainly would not be our last. We didn’t have a reservation but we were welcomed nonetheless by very friendly and welcoming staff. We had the salt and pepper squid and chicken croquettes as our starters; pork belly roast and hake for mains. The food was so delicious and the portions quite generous. Already planning our next visit, curry night next!

My favourite place to eat and drink in Reading. Cosy interior with amazing gastropub dishes on a menu which changes enough to keep you coming back. We've had small plates, Sunday roast, steak and just drinks and come along for live music and Craig's pub quiz. For once, a place that deserves and lives up to the hype - an essential to visit in Reading.

Sunday lunchtime visit, but we had trad pub fish & chips and a chickenburger. Both excellently cooked alongside good beer with friendly attentive service. Would be five* if less noisy due to harsh acoustics with music to boot!

The staff was so attentive and the food gave us all good coma ~ wonderful generous portions and amazing flavor for a reasonable price. Be sure to call in and make a booking because they do get booked out pretty quickly for the Sunday Roast.

Really very good Sunday roasts. Too full for pudding but sure that's probably good too.
