Lovely meal before dropping daughter off art Reading Uni. Had a booth and it was really nice private. Good menu choices and food was very good. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back again when we visit Reading Uni again.
First time here with friends who are local and regulars. Food was really nice, lovely veggie roast and the cookie sundae was really yummy! Only reason for not giving it 5 starts is based on very slow service on what seemed like a very quiet Sunday! Would definitely come back though!

We ate there last night and had some good food and drink. The dishes on the menu were really varied and plenty of choice. We tried the confit duck and the ham and chicken pie as well as some desserts. My only comment would be that pie would have benefited from more meat in it and a thicker sauce as
Very good food however I think I got ill from this visit unfortunately. The burger didn't need the onions rings, but was pretty good after adding some Tommy K. The Eton Mess was more ice cream than meringue, but still good.

If you are looking for a pub with a really good garden kind of out of the main town centre, this is the place to go. I discovered this place way before when it’s still called the Black Boy. I love the vibe and their food is great!
